Benefits of Patiently Waiting: Renewed Strength – Part 3

“Patience is power. Patience is not an absence of action rather it is “timing” it waits on the right time to act for the right principles and in the right way.” Fulton J. Sheen. Awesome quote, don’t you think? Listen to this, the impatient person rushes to judgement and that can be costly. “Patience is the companion of wisdom.” ~ St. Augustine. I really believe this, hence the Bible says, “It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” Read 1 Corinthians 1:30 (NIV). So Christ is our wisdom, and since this is the case, it makes perfect faith to wait on the one who is wisdom, because through wisdom, He would show you the way.

Waiting is part of life. When you go to the doctors for an appointment, an interview,  you are immediately informed to please take a seat. In other words, to patiently wait till you are attended to. “I realized that the deepest spiritual lessons are not learned by His letting us have our way in the end, but by His making us wait, bearing with us in love and patience until we are able to honestly pray what He taught His disciples to pray: Thy will be done.” Elisabeth Elliot.  Think with me for a moment, waiting can be sometimes enforced, and you only need look at those bound in prison. They don’t have a choice but to patiently wait irrespective of what they want or think.

Now let us scripturally look at some key benefits of patiently waiting. Watch this, our confident expectation is tied to our patiently waiting on the Lord, and this bares repeating, hence this beautiful Bible verse, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Read Isaiah 40:31 (KJV). Here we are clearly told whom to wait upon – the Lord, therefore, waiting upon anything else is a false foundation.

Benefits of Patiently waiting include

  • Renewed Strength
    • “Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” …”So all the people went to eat to drink to send something to those who had nothing and to celebrate with great joy, because they understood the words that were being declared to them.” Read Nehemiah 8:10-12 (NIV). Watch this, renewed strength comes from the words you understand, and understanding comes from a place of waiting patiently for the Lord. I believe patiently waiting leads one into meditation; because whilst you are waiting, your mind is fixed on the promises of God. Here is a mathematical formula for you to consider; NO WORD = NO JOY and NO JOY = NO STRENGTH. So if you want strength, get and understand the word of God. Watch this beloved, the Bible says, “This is God’s message to Zerubbabel (PUT YOUR NAME RIGHT HERE): ‘You can’t force these things, they only come about through My Spirit,’ Read Zechariah 4:6 (MSG).

In this wise, I pray and declare the power of the Holy Spirit will strengthen our hearts and minds in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
