Back to basics – Part 4

Back to Basic_ Simplicity!Acts 2: 46-47 (NIV) 46 And day after day they regularly assembled in the temple with united purpose, and in their homes, they broke bread [including the Lord’s Supper]. They partook of their food with gladness and simplicity and generous hearts, 47 Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all the people, and the Lord kept adding [to their number] daily those who were being saved [from spiritual death].”

This text reminds me of the gathering of the people on the day of Pentecost. Scripture tells us the people were all gathered, and this place could be a Circle of Friends group, Church service or whatever your Church gathering is where spiritual nourishment is disseminated and encouraged. God’s love manifested itself through His action, and in like manner the basics of Christianity is to be passionate about fellowshipping with God’s people and His Word. Now, this is not a one-time event, this is meant to be a lifestyle (a manner in which you live your life), remember, “day after day they regularly.

Back to the basics of Christianity, a life of service, trust for God and His Word, seeking Godly counsel and allowing His counsel shape and guide every facet of our lives. Please hear my heart on this, it is about time we wake up and be effective witnesses for God and the faith we profess. If we want to stay relevant, we should do like Jesus did, “…but made Himself of no reputation…” Read Philippians 2:7 (NIV). In other words, Jesus was not concerned about the opinions of people;  Jesus was and is still to this day the embodiment of integrity.

One commentary writes, “Upon close examination, it becomes clear that many nice sounding messages don’t agree with God’s messages in the Bible. Only a solid foundation in God’s Word can equip us to perceive the errors and distortions in false teaching.” In other words, let us get back to the Word of God, let us not be ignorant, instead let us be a people of the Spirit and the Word. It is time we begin to Know His Ways. “Heaven and earth will disappear, but My Words will NEVER disappear.” Read Matthew 24:35 (NIV).

In wrapping up this series, I will comfortably say from my time of study and interaction with God’s Word “For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!].” Read Hebrews 13:5 (AMPC).

Back to basics  = Developing the nature and character of God.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
