Perfect and constant peace – Part 3

According to the Bible, Peace is a fruit – Galatians 5:22, and every fruit must be cultivated. Without cultivation, one can’t experience or enjoy the purpose of the fruit. God’s peace is perfect and constant; constant because God is never changing. The Bible says, “He is the same yesterday today and forever.” Listen to this quote, “A Christian should resemble a fruit tree with real fruit, not a Christmas tree with decorations tied on.” John Stott. As believers in Christ, people of the Spirit and the word, Peace ought to be exuding all around us.

So, the question now is, how does one cultivate the fruit of Peace? To cultivate any type of fruit, the soil has to be prepared to receive the seed, and in like manner, we ought to prepare the fallow grounds of our heart. And why this is critical, is so that when the seed is sown, the ground is ready and prepared for the coming forth of the intended fruit. The type of fruit in your life is determined by you, Selah. The fruit of Peace is available, and to lay hold of it is to embrace this grace gift. Therefore, preparing the fallow grounds of your heart is one sure way of Perfect and constant Peace.

 Secondly, when you are at Peace, you will be thankful. Gratitude becomes a natural flow in one’s life. The Bible says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Read Colossians 3:15 (NIV). Listen to this, “The fruit of righteousness will be Peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.” Read Isaiah 32:17-18 (NIV).

When we begin to function under the canopy of Peace, we should expect outcomes like quietness, confidence and security. Therefore, we lift up our hands and thank the Lord for His Peace upon our lives and country which surpasses all human reasoning in the name of Jesus.
