Risking it all – Part 1

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” Read Esther 4:14

Reading the Book of Esther is quite fascinating because you can see the outworkings of God yet hardly being mentioned. Key names mentioned were Mordecai, Esther, King Xerxes and Haman, and we see the intrigue and complexity of the characters in the text worth researching; as there is a history between Mordecai’s Genealogy and that of Haman’s.

“The issue is now clear. It is between light and darkness, and everyone must choose his side.” G. K. Chesterton. I believe Mordecai and Esther made their choice to risk it all; as they both cried out and fasted before God requiring His supernatural delivering grace and mercy from the hands of Haman the Agagite. This to me brothers and sisters is anti-semitism – because Haman despised Mordecai a Jew and was willing to annihilate an entire group of people for their race and religion. Read Esther 3:5-11 (NIV).

We should not be surprised in today’s society, haters of Christ are willing to silence every voice including killing Christians. A recent United Nations report says, “the percentage of Christians persecuted for their faith” is increasing at an alarming rate, with one article rating it as high as 80%. Scripture says, “And everyone will hate you because you are my followers.” Read Luke 21:17 (NLT). Followers of Christ risk it all because there is a bigger picture, hence the Bible says, “Barnabas and Paul, who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Read Acts 15:26 (NLT).

Whoever seeks to save his life will [eventually] lose it [through death], and whoever loses his life [in this world] will keep it [from the consequences of sin and separation from God].” Read Luke 17:33 (AMP). Therefore, are you and I willing to risk everything for the sake of standing on Gods Word? [insert your response here].
