“And now we have run into His heart to hide ourselves in His faithfulness. This is where we find His strength and comfort, for He empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakeable hope! We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God Himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat which sits in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold, and where Jesus, our forerunner, has gone in before us. He is now and forever our royal Priest like Melchizedek.” Read Hebrews 6:19 (TPT).
Watch this, the antidote to despair is to anchor our souls to God’s heart. Well, you might be asking, what is God’s heart? I believe it is His Word and promises for you, hence the Bible says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own].” Read Jeremiah 1:5 (AMP). Beloved, there is no reason for us to despair because God is our one and only hope.
We have reasons to be very expectant because “God [in His eternal plan] chose to make known to them how great for the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in and among you, the hope and guarantee of [realizing the] glory.” Read Colossians 1:27 (AMP). This tells you, our hope is fixed, it’s is a living hope, it’s alive and active. The Psalmist writes “You’re my place of quiet retreat, and Your wrap-around presence becomes my shield as I wrap myself in Your word!” Read Psalm 119:114 (TPT). Can you see this? Hope is in Christ and Him alone.
As Christmas approaches, and we all begin to evaluate our lives based on certain milestones which we might have set for ourselves; maybe, it’s a career goal, progress in one’s life, family objectives, children, husband or wife – whether they are living up to what we believe to be God’s standard for successful living. Whatever method one uses to evaluate oneself; if not handled properly can either trigger despair or hope. Now, this is not limited just to Christmas seasons. Every living and waking moment is a Christmas season for the people of God. It ought to be part of our daily lives to evaluate our goals in line with the Scripture. The Bible says, “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.” Read Romans 12:2 (TPT).
Listen to this, we must not wait until the end of the year to evaluate oneself, it is meant to be a daily process of evaluation using God’s Word as the mirror and standard, the Book of Romans 12 tells us.
Here is a prayer from God’s Word, “Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with His super-abundance until you radiate with hope!” Read Romans 15:13 (TPT).
