One commentator writes, “The fruit of the Spirit” is a by-product of Christ’s control. Watch this, Paul uses the term singular when describing fruit; which means all nine virtues are characteristics every believer in Christ should exemplify. In other words, the nine virtues are grouped in a cluster like what you will see with grapes. These virtues are the distinguishing factor between the authentic in Christ and the pretenders [pause and calmly think]. And I believe, this is why Romans 12:2a (NASB) is critical, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
