The Christian walk is full of trials and tribulations. Listen to this “If you are going to walk with Jesus Christ, you will be opposed … In our days, to be a true Christian is really to become a scandal.” George Whitefield. Brethren, how many of us are willing or want to go through suffering for the sake of Christ? The writer of the Book of Hebrews encourages believers to PERSEVERE [“to persist in a state, enterprise, or undertaking despite counter influences, opposition, or discouragement“] in our Christian walk when we face untold hardship for the sake of Christ.
The persecution and times of great stress can lead to a temptation to run away from God and to ditch his or her relationship or identification with Christ – apostate [defector, and a deserter]. This is a serious offence with devastating consequences. See what the Bible says, “But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked — You grew fat, thick, and sleek— Then he abandoned God who made him, and treated the Rock of his salvation with wicked foolishness.” Read Deuteronomy 32:15-18 (LSB).
Cast away – to reject, throw, resist or trivialize, neglect and disregard. Confidence – “Faith or belief that one will act in a right, proper, or effective way.” Life presents us with two (2) directions – the broad way and the narrow gate. The Bible says, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Read Matthew 7:14 (LSB).
Listen to this, “I sometimes think that the very essence of the whole Christian position and the secret of a successful spiritual life is just to realize two things… I must have complete, absolute confidence in God and no confidence in myself.” Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Il s’agit d’une infraction grave aux conséquences dévastatrices. Voyez ce que dit la Bible: “Mais Jeshurun s’engraissa et donna des coups de pied — Tu devins gras, épais et lisse — Puis il abandonna Dieu qui l’avait fait, et traita le Rocher de son salut avec une folie méchante.” Lisez Deutéronome 32:15-18 (LSB).
Rejeter – rejeter, jeter, résister, ou banaliser, négliger et mépriser. Confiance – “Foi ou croyance que l’on agira d’une manière juste, appropriée ou efficace.” La vie nous présente deux (2) directions: la voie large et la porte étroite. La Bible dit: “Entrez par la porte étroite; car la porte est large et le chemin qui mène à la perdition est large, et il y en a beaucoup qui y entrent. Car la porte est étroite et le chemin qui mène à la vie est resserré, et il y en a peu qui le trouvent. Lisez Matthieu 7:14 (LSB).
Ecoutez ceci: “Je pense parfois que l’essence même de toute la position chrétienne et le secret d’une vie spirituelle réussie est simplement de réaliser deux choses… Je dois avoir une confiance totale et absolue en Dieu et aucune confiance en moi-même.” Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
