Often Christians are labelled as too narrow [bigoted and intolerant]. As believers in Christ, we must be intolerant of any practice not consistent with the Word of God. Instead, the world will have us to be broad-minded, simplistic; open to and accept all kinds of belief systems and practices which are antithetical to the Scripture. The Bible says, “Remove not the ancient landmark thy fathers have set.” Proverbs 22:28 (KJV). It is not lost on us that the world tries to eradicate the landmarks of marriage between a man and a woman as instituted by God. Beloved, will we be men and women of the world or men and women of the word?
Christ was highlighting the way that leads to destruction and the way which leads to life. Beloved, He was drawing a line in the sand. The Bible says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Read John 14:6 (NIV). The text also distinguishes between the man of the world [1 John 4:5 – “They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them”], and the man of the spirit [John 4:24 – “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth“, [John 10:27 (LSB) “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me“.]
Will you vacillate between two opinions? The Bible says, “How long will you be limping between two opinions? If Yahweh is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer Him a word.” Read 1 Kings 18:21 (LSB). Will you hear His voice today and answer Him?
“See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and calamity; in that I am commanding you today to love Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. But if your heart turns away and you will not listen, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your seed, by loving Yahweh your God, by listening to His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.” Read Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (LSB). Therefore, “Do not harden your hearts...” Read Hebrews 3:15

Souvent, les chrétiens sont étiquetés comme trop étroits [bigots et intolérants]. En tant que croyants en Christ, nous devons être intolérants à toute pratique non conforme à la Parole de Dieu. Au lieu de cela, le monde voudra que nous soyons larges d’esprit, simplistes; s’ouvrir et accepter toutes sortes de systèmes de croyances et de pratiques qui sont antithétiques aux Écritures. La Bible dit: “N’enlève pas l’ancien jalon que tes pères ont fixé.” Proverbes 22 :28 (LSG). Il ne nous échappe pas que le monde essaie d’éradiquer les repères du mariage entre un homme et une femme tel qu’institué par Dieu. Bien-aimés, serons-nous des hommes et des femmes du monde ou des hommes et des femmes de la parole?
Le Christ soulignait le chemin qui mène à la destruction et le chemin qui mène à la vie. Bien-aimés, Il traçait une ligne dans le sable. La Bible dit: “Je suis le chemin, la vérité et la vie. Nul ne vient au Père que par moi. Lisez Jean 14 :6 (LSG). Le texte fait également la distinction entre l‘homme du monde [1 Jean 4 :5 – “Ils sont du monde et parlent donc du point de vue du monde, et le monde les écoute”,] et l‘homme de l’esprit [Jean 4 :24 – “Dieu est un Esprit, et ceux qui l’adorent doivent l’adorer en esprit et en vérité”, [Jean 10 :27 (LSB) “Mes brebis entendent ma voix, et je les connais, et elles me suivent”.]
Allez-vous hésiter entre deux opinions? La Bible dit: “Jusqu’à quand allez-vous boiter entre deux opinions? Si Yahweh est Dieu, suivez-le; mais si Baal, suis-le. Mais le peuple ne lui répondit pas un mot. Lisez 1 Rois 18 :21 (LSB). Entendrez-vous Sa voix aujourd’hui et Lui répondrez-vous?
“Voici, je vous ai présenté aujourd’hui la vie et la prospérité, et la mort et le malheur; en ce que je vous commande aujourd’hui d’aimer Yahweh votre Dieu, de marcher dans ses voies, et d’observer ses commandements, ses statuts et ses jugements, afin que vous viviez et vous multipliiez, et que Yahweh votre Dieu vous bénisse dans le pays où vous entrez pour en prendre possession. Mais si votre cœur se détourne et que vous ne voulez pas écouter, mais que vous êtes entraînés et que vous adorez d’autres dieux et que vous les servez, je vous déclare aujourd’hui que vous périrez sûrement. Vous ne prolongerez pas vos jours dans le pays où vous traversez le Jourdain pour y entrer et en prendre possession. J’en prends aujourd’hui à témoin le ciel et la terre, que j’ai mis devant vous la vie et la mort, la bénédiction et la malédiction. Choisissez donc la vie afin que vous puissiez vivre, vous et votre postérité, en aimant Yahweh votre Dieu, en écoutant sa voix et en vous attachant à lui ; car c’est là ta vie et la longueur de tes jours, afin que tu vives dans le pays que l’Éternel a juré à tes pères, à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob de leur donner.” Lisez Deutéronome 30 :15-20 (LSB).
