Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. Colossians 3:1-2 (LSB).
To set one’s mind on anything is to make a conscious decision, or to be inclined to do something. It is having a disposition towards the things of God. In other words, one’s predominant thought and drive should be all about the Kingdom of God.
The Bible says, “I have chosen the way of faithfulness: Thine ordinances [statutes, rules, laws] have I set before me.” Read Psalm 119:30 (LSB). Listen to this, “I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” Read Psalm 16:8 (KJV). Jeremiah writes, “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your Words became for me joy and gladness in my heart, For I have been called by Your name, O Yahweh God of hosts.” Read Jeremiah 15:16 (LSB). Beloved, what shapes our inclinations? Are they earthly or spiritual? The Bible helps us understand, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Read Matthew 6:21 9LSB).
You might be wondering, how does one set their minds on things above? Let me lay this foundation from the Scriptures. Philippians 4:13 (LSB) “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” The Bible also helps us understand, “This is the Word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel, saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says Yahweh of hosts” Read Zechariah 4:6 (LSB). Look at this, “For not by power shall a man prevail.” Read I Samuel 2:9 (LSB). Beloved, the strength is not of yourself, but God’s. Hence, the Bible says, “For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” Read Philippians 2:13 (LSB).
God will not accept a divided heart. He must be absolute monarch. There is no room in your heart for two thrones. You cannot mix the worship of the true God with the worship of any other god more than you can mix oil and water. It cannot be done. There is no room for any other throne in the heart if Christ is there. If worldliness should come in, godliness would go out. Dwight L. Moody

Dieu n’acceptera pas un cœur divisé. Il doit être un monarque absolu. Il n’y a pas de place dans votre cœur pour deux trônes. Vous ne pouvez pas mélanger l’adoration du vrai Dieu avec l’adoration d’un autre dieu plus que vous ne pouvez mélanger l’huile et l’eau. Cela ne peut pas être fait.
