Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.” Hebrews 4:1 (KJV).
“My hope lives not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died; my trust is not that I am holy, but that being unholy, HE is my righteousness. My faith rests not upon what I am or shall be or feel or know, but in what Christ is, in what HE has done, and in what HE is now doing for me. Hallelujah!” Charles Spurgeon.
Sanctification – hagiasmos is ‘holiness, consecration, a separation or being set apart for God’s purposes.’ Hence, the Bible says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Read Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV). Beloved, our existence has been predetermined by God. There is a God-given purpose for your life, and I beseech you by the mercies of God to do what Galatians 6:4 (MSG), “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.”
The Bible says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them..” Read Genesis 1:27 (KJV). Sanctification is an act of God, and not by any human will or effort [pause and calmly think]. Watch this beloved, only God can separate us from sin to holiness. The Bible says, “For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to do of His good pleasure.” Read Philippians 2:13 (KJV). Listen to this, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” Read John 17:17 (KJV). Here we see Sanctification or separation comes from God’s Word; to the one who is a diligent student of the Word of God. The Bible says, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Read Zechariah 4:6b (KJV).
It is also important for us to understand the nature and character of God; holiness and righteousness, hence the Prophet Isaiah writes, “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory.” Read Isaiah 6:3 (KJV). Additionally, listen to what the Bible says, “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Read Ephesians 4:22-24 (KJV).
Lord Jesus, thank You for the power in Your Blood which cleanses me, and restores me in right fellowship with You; for this, I am eternally grateful.
