Prayer: Confidence in God – Part 6

“For You are my hope; Lord God, You are my confidence from my youth.” Read Psalm 71:5 (NASB). Watch this, “In whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.” Read Ephesians 3:12. Beloved, when you go to God in prayer, how confident are you? Is your confidence based on your effort to please God or on God’s sovereign grace and mercy? Scripture helps you and me understand “For not by might shall a person prevail.” Read 1 Samuel 2:9b (NASB). Listen to this “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by powerbut by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Read Zechariah 4:6 (NIV). Therefore, when we approach the throne room of grace, we are reminded “Go through His open gates with great thanksgiving; enter His courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless His name.” Read Psalm 100:4 (TLB).
