The Bible says, “I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed.” Read Deuteronomy 30:19. Every believer faces this choice, and I pray that we will “hearken unto the voice of His Word” making the right choice, and not be like the children of Israel, who failed to respond correctly, see Deuteronomy 31:16-18. The alternative of a good and happy, or a disobedient and miserable life. The Love of God – Romans 5:8 or the wrath of God – Romans 1:18. Beloved, the choice is our’s to make. Here is a clue, “Choose life.”

It is important for us to know that death has an origin. Death was never part of God’s original design for His creation. From the Theological point of view, all death is unnatural! Man was never made to die, but to have life, a fellowship. According to the Westminster Standard: What is the chief end of man? “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him for ever.”

Therefore, what is the cause and origin of death? The sentence of death was passed unto all men as a result of Adams disobedience. The Bible says, “Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned.” Read Romans 5:12. In other words, the inherency to sin, entered the human realm. Adams sinful nature was willed to his descendants. Therefore, the nature of sin is present from the moment of conception, hence, the Bible says, “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Read Psalm 51:5.

We protect what matters to us, but the question I ask is, do we have eternal insurance? When you take out any form of insurance, they tell you that “Your insurance is underwritten” by such and such. Who underwrites your life, God or your assets? Listen here, “We are not to be anxious about the unknown future or to fret about it. We are to live in a moment-by-moment dependence upon God.” James Montgomery Boice.

From a Biblical perspective, death has a threefold experience: 1. Physical, 2. Spiritual, & 3. Eternal: cast into the lake of fire. Look out for the next series.
