The absolutes of God, hinge on this one statement, “In the beginning, God (Elohimcreated [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth.” Read Genesis 1:1 (AMP). And to help us better understand the doctrine of God’s absolutes, let us look at the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, which says, “Recognition of the total truth and trustworthiness of Holy Scripture is essential to a full grasp and adequate confession of its authority.”

Beloved, listen here, God is Sovereign and so are His choices. Listen to this, “Well then, you might say, “Why does God blame people for not responding? Haven’t they simply done what He makes them do? “No, don’t say that. Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, “Why have you made me like this?” When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t He have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage intoIn the same way, even though God has the right to show His anger and His power, He is very patient with those on whom His anger falls, who are destined for destructionHe does this to make the riches of His glory shine even brighter on those to whom He shows mercy, who were prepared in advance for gloryAnd we are among those whom He selected, both from the Jews and from the Gentiles.” Read Romans 9:19-24 (NLT).

The Westminster Shorter Catechism, says, “The decrees of God are, His eternal purpose, according to the counsel of His will, whereby, for His own glory, He hath foreordained whatsoever comes to pass.” Listen to this, God’s absolutes, last from one generation to another, hence, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.” Read Psalm 33:11 (ESV). Watch this, “I’m convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans.” Read Job 42:2 (MSG).

Beloved, I am highlighting these Scriptures, for the purpose of helping you and me understand the magnitude of the person of Christ. He is not to be trifled with. If we claim to be Christians, then, let us be Christians indeed. Listen here, “There is no attribute of God more comforting to His children than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty. Under the most adverse circumstances, in the most severe troubles, they believe that Sovereignty hath ordained their afflictions, that Sovereignty overrules them, and that Sovereignty will sanctify them all.” Charles Spurgeon.

Listen to this, “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Read Psalm 107:1. Lord, let Your mercy prevail where we have not “Hearkened unto the voice of your word” in Christ’s name.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
