In continuation of the Holy Spirit’s personality, we have observed thus far “the Holy Spirit” is a real person. He is not a ghost like some have known in times past. And because the Holy Spirit has a personality; He has feelings, which means He can be hurt. Hence, scripture tells us “grieve not the Holy Spirit of God.” Read Ephesians 4:30. Let me further explain this part as I believe there is a need to. Grieving the Holy Spirit can be as a result of “impure thoughts”, “entertaining filthy lusts”, and here the Holy Spirit is thinking; we should be running after God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, instead of running after temptations that are in the world through lust, and because of our running after other things besides God, He is grieved, whilst still loving us, because He knows our wrong actions are not consistent with who we are as children of God.
The Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses.” Read Romans 8:26. Weakness (powerlessness, decrepitude, lacking strength of will or character). Sometimes as believers, we all at some stage in life might have reached a place of weakness, but I thank God for the Holy Spirit who is right there to help us in times of weakness, Hallelujah, glory to God. So if you sense weakness, ask the Holy Spirit to help you, and He will gladly oblige.
The Holy Spirit teaches us. “But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things…” Read John 14:26. Parallel scripture in 1 John 2:20 “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.” In other words, the Holy Spirit helps us understand the truth (word). So if there is anything my dear friend which you do not understand, ask the Holy Spirit to teach you.
The out-workings of the Holy Spirit is not limited only to Spiritual things, it has a wider scope in operation. For example, the Holy Spirit working in you in business, in your home as a husband, as a wife, as a minister of the Gospel, and all the way to your profession; He is willing to reveal insight that will propel you in your industry sector, Oh this is good news, Hallelujah, glory to God.
