Are you a DECORATIVE or FUNCTIONAL pillar – Part 4

7-pillars-of-society

I am sure by now, you would have either arrived at the point where you evaluate who you really are or deciding what adjustments need to be made concerning your role as a FUNCTIONAL pillar. Scripture tells us in 1 Timothy 3:15 “…God’s family is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.” In other words, the church (the called out ones) upholds nations wherever they are planted. You and I make up the church, and not the four walls of a building. The church is a biblically functioning community; people live in communities, and these people go to these functioning communities to be impregnated with truth, consequently, the people go back into their communities and effect the desired change needed; they become the supporting pillars in their context, and everyone gets to benefit from the collective effort in upholding truth in the society. Now, here comes that question, what is truth? Truth is in God, truth is the church, and truth is the word of God, so whatever the word of God says, IS the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God.

Writing about pillars, I came across this image on the web, and I am sure a lot of you would have seen or heard about the 7 pillars of society. I am told these 7 pillars will transform nations, really, seriously.? Now I see why nations are not transformed, because, they lean on  the wrong pillar. This might be controversial, but… Take a look at this photo and tell me what is wrong with it. And before you do, let us take a look at a verse of scripture in Psalm 82:5 (NIV) “The god’s know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; ALL THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH ARE SHAKEN or UNSTABLE or OFF COURSE.” Does that ring a bell in your ears?

Let me pause and allow you to calmly think this through. I believe it is important we really get this, because with revelation and understanding, a lot of us would be delivered from leaning on the wrong pillar. The photo depicts, societies are held together on these 7 pillars; this is what society posit, and a narrative pushed into our everyday interactions, and this narrative seem to drive and propel us in everything we do. But I thought we just read in the bible that “ALL THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH ARE UNSTABLE.” Guess what friend, it is about time we stop being deceived, and wake up to the fact that we possibly might have been leaning on the wrong pillar all this while, and that could be why things are not working as they should. Have you ever considered this verse of scripture in Haggai 1:9 (AMPC) “You looked for much [harvest], and behold, it came to little; and even when you brought that home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because of My house, which lies waste while you yourselves run each man to his own house [eager to build and adorn it].” Selah. Are you still with me? Please stay and read on. Psalm 127:2 (AMPC) “It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to His loved ones.” Are you beginning to get the sense of what is happening? We spend most of our lifetime pursuing and leaning on all other pillars but the Lords. Listen to what God said in Haggai 2:8 “The silver is mine, the gold is mine declares the Lord Almighty.” The silver and the gold we so pursue after belongs to Him in the first place, so would it not make sense for us to go after the one who owns everything in the first place? Psalm 24:1 (CEV) “The earth and everything on it, belong to the Lord. The world and its people, belong to him.”

Whether you believe it or not, we all belong to God, and my desire is and I pray you locate yourself in Him. You were never meant to stand alone, you were meant to be part of something bigger that will change societies and nations. You were meant and designed to be a FUNCTIONAL pillar of nations. It is a huge responsibility, and we have the “greater one living on the inside” helping us to fulfil our purpose as FUNCTIONAL pillars in our sphere of influence.

I thought we had finished this topic someone says? So I thought myself, till I began to meditate on the fact that I am a FUNCTIONAL pillar.

  1. Very good, especially the analysis of the 7 pillars. I look forward to further insight into this; because we all play in the space of every pillar represented.
