Anchored on the word of God – Part 1

anchor

A ship without an Anchor would be in grave danger of drifting so far out from the harbour. And we do understand the anchor is what anchors the ship in its position for as long as it is docked in the harbour. The anchor has a huge say in the positioning of the ship once it is in a stationary position, and in like manner, the word of God has a huge say in our lives. Putting it this way, Gods word ought to be more weighty than any other word in our lives; holding us in place, hence the scripture says, “…Upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power.” Read Hebrews 1:3 (AMP).

The dictionary definition of the word Anchor is, “A heavy object, usually a shaped iron weight with flukes, lowered by cable or chain to the bottom of a body of water to keep a vessel from drifting. King James defines the word, thus as, “An iron instrument for holding a ship or other vessel at rest in water.” Now, what is interesting about this is, the Bible calls us, “Chosen Vessels” unto God. Read Acts 9:15. And watch this, the Anchor holds the vessel in water; an unstable environment, where the currents are always flowing. Here is my point beloved, Gods word is the Anchor or stability for us in an unsettled world. Of a truth you and I operate in the market place, engaging the seven pillars of society; and I believe it is critically important we lean and stand on the firm foundation – the word of God as our Anchor.

Beloved, let us face this fact, the society is what it is, and you and I would have to operate in that environment by virtue of our work and careers. I am very aware, people talk a lot about the 7 pillars of society, but I am here to announce to you; in God, all pillars exists. In other words, anchor your whole life on the Living Word of God. We have a firm foundation upon which we stand – Gods word as an Anchor for our souls, “He is our firm foundation.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the empowering of Your Spirit, filling us with the fullness of God to overflowing in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
