The Bible has several references to Anchors. Recall Paul’s account of his shipwreck in the book of Acts. Over Centuries, the Anchor has been a symbol of steadfastness, security, hope and salvation for Christians, hence Hebrews 6:19 says, “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.”
Archaeological evidence shows that anchors have gone through several transformational designs from what it used to be. BUT, I want to say, Gods word never changes, it remains the same; and as a matter of truth, the Bible says, “He is the same yesterday, and today and forever.” Read Hebrews 13:8 (NIV). His word is from everlasting to everlasting. Read Psalm 90:2 (NLT).
Dearly beloved, the anchor is one of the most important piece of equipment onboard a ship, and essentially critical to the vessels and passengers safety. The two are mutually inseparable from one another. A 19th Century writer once commented, “There is nothing in a ship of more anxious consequence than anchors. Many thousands of brave men have lost their lives, and numbers of ships wrecked from the insufficiency. All anchors for the navy should be made of the very best iron that can be procured; manufactured with the utmost care, and upon such a principle as, on trial, proves to be the best; and their sufficiency in point of strength should be proved before being delivered to the ships.” (Blackburn, 1817:183).
From the quote by Blackburn, I want to highlight a phrase of interest “the very best iron money can buy,” Does that sound familiar? Yes, the blood of Jesus is priceless, and God reconciled you back to Him with the precious blood of Jesus. You are priceless and precious to God.
This is an awakening awesome and present day truth. Glory to God. So what are you waiting for, get anchored and be stable in your life.
