From some of the Bible verses we have seen and now know that we do not have control of our tomorrows. Our tomorrows and lives are in the hands of God, therefore we must as of a necessity earnestly seek after commit to the one who holds our tomorrows. The truth remains, tomorrow happens irrespective of our plans or the lack thereof. Relinquish control of your life, your children, your finances, your home, your business, your ministry, and your desires to God, He is eagerly reaching out to you through this post to remind you to let go of the wheel and allow Him direct the course of your life. I sense the Spirit of the Lord nudging and saying, ‘It would have to be by an act of your will to relinquish control of your life over to me.’ Thank you Lord Jesus.
Let us look at some practical steps that will help you and I relinquish control over to God and His counsel.
- God’s will must be first and must be honored. The scripture tells us and keeps saying, “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His Kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” Read Matthew 6:33 (AMP). Watch this, God’s will for you and I is to seek Him first, that is what brings honor to Him. To seek means to be zealous, to hunt, to be diligent, to be consumed in our relationship with the Lord. Galatians 6:4 (MSG) says, “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.”
- You have a destiny to fulfil and a God to glorify. According to the Westminster Larger Catechism, “Man’s chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy him forever.” Hence the Bible says, “The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in his Temple, living in his presence every day of my life, delighting in his incomparable perfections and glory.” Read Psalm 27:4 (TLB).
- Get a life and live. The Bible says, “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” Read John 10:10 (AMP). My Bible also says, “For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).” Read 2 Peter 1:3 (AMPC). Enjoy your life today, everything has been given and made available for your benefit, Hallelujah.
Okay Pastor Ricky, the point is clear. So what should I be saying about my tomorrow? I am glad you asked because the truth is in the same verse of scripture which we used as our base text. See what it says, Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and we will do this or that.”Read James 4:15 (AMP). In other words, we are acknowledging God first in our decision making and planning process. Listen to this quote, “The man or woman who is wholly or joyously surrendered to Christ can’t make a wrong choice – any choice will be the right one.” A. W. Tozer. What does this tell us? Stay absolutely connected to the vine, hence the Bible says, “Without me you can do nothing.” Read John 15:5 (KJV). Beloved, it is about time we start believing the Bible in its entirety.
Lord Jesus, thank you for holding my life in Your hands, and directing it according to Your purpose plan and pursuits in Jesus Name. Thank you for grace, loving kindness, favor and the gift of the Holy Spirit. I am extremely grateful to you my Father for being such a good good Father. I do not have enough words in the English vocabulary to express how thankful I am.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
Awesomely beautiful, and I praise the Lord for you Pastor Ricky for this wonderful insight.
