I want to start out by asking a question, if you are not Spirit-led, then who and what is leading you? The Spirit led man is tuned into the Spirit frequency, he or she is constantly receiving waves of download from God. The Bible says, “So then, my brothers, you can see that we have no particular reason to feel grateful to our sensual nature or to live life on the level of the instincts. Indeed that way of living leads to certain spiritual death. But if on the other hand, you cut the nerve of your instinctive actions by obeying the Spirit, you are on the way to real living. Read Romans 8:13-17 (PHILLIPS).
Of particular interest to me is the word nerve (transmit signals between different parts of the body), and I believe the Apostle Paul was referring to a permanent cutting off from living according to the dictates of the flesh, and totally relying on the influences and guidance of the Holy Spirit. I am sure you are aware that surgical incisions can be painful on the flesh, but glorifying to the Spirit. When you cut a nerve in the body, there is no feeling or sensation to the affected part. So imagine with me, when you and I cut the nerve of walking according to the dictates of the flesh, we are then left with the choice of walking according to the spirit.
A Spirit-led life takes its cue from God’s word. The guiding principle is focused on being fuelled, propelled and galvanised by the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness (corruption, stupidity), but be filled with the Holy Spirit and constantly guided by Him.” Read Ephesians 5:18 (AMP). In other words, be being filled (that ye may become a body wholly filled and flooded by God). Think with me for a minute, when something is flooded, what happens? It is submerged into! In like manner, we are being counselled to be submerged and allow the Holy Spirit submerge into every area of our lives. When you think of a Tsunami, the force and volume of water covers and cleanse everything in its path.
Jesus is our model example of someone who was always led by the Spirit of God, and the Bible says, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” Read Matthew 4:1 (NASB). The Bible also says, “…as He is, even so, are we in this world.” Read 1 John 4:17 (ASV). So the question we can safely ask is, how was Jesus like when He was in this world? He was always and constantly led by the Spirit of God, and In like manner, we should mirror Jesus’s ministry when He was on the earth; by be being constantly led by the Spirit of God.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You ever so much for Your Spirit and power which is at work in me, both to will and to do of Your good pleasure. It is Your good pleasure that I walk and be led by the Spirit. Thank You for Your Spirit has empowered me to live a rich and satisfying life and strengthened by Your grace in Jesus Name. Amen.
