Spiritually Healthy – Part 6

spiritually-healthy600Listen to this quote by A. W. Tozer, “We please God most, not by frantically trying to make ourselves good, but by throwing ourselves into His arms.” Jesus said, “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Read Matthew 6:33 (MSG). Sometimes we think being spiritually healthy is outdated and irrelevant in this 21st Century, but I beg to differ because being spiritually healthy is the cure for the darkness in the world today.

  • Spiritual Health is following Jesus. The scripture says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation].” Read Matthew 11:28 (AMP). “We can have a strong body, but a weak life, or a strong life, but a weak body, and a strong life and a strong body.Charles Stanley. Does any of these resonate with you? Are you aware it takes courage to follow after Jesus? Listen to these words from Jesus, “I am the way and the truth and the life…” Read John 14:6 (NIV). Watch this, there is no other or alternative way or truth, Jesus is the only way, Selah. We live in a society where being a Christian can be seen as backwards or mentally challenging for those who attend. A spiritually healthy person who follows hard after Christ has a strong life and a strong body, Hallelujah. This follower of Christ is not deficient nor lacking in anything because “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, His generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.” Read Philippians 4:19 (MSG).

Listen to what Jesus said, “Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk], and I will make you fishers of men.” Read Matthew 4:19 (AMP). If there is anyone we need to follow, it is Jesus. He is the only one who has the key to life, and He alone is the one that will make you what He has predestined you to be.

Think with me for a moment, if you can afford to pay the monthly gym subscription and attend judiciously, then the importance you give to your spiritual health or fitness would equally determine how far you are willing to go to locate a place of worship where you are nourished with God’s Word!

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
