Back to basics – Part 3

Back to Basic_ Simplicity!-3 Acts 2: 44-47 (NIV)  44 And all who believed (who adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus Christ) were united and [together] they had everything in common. 45 And they sold their possessions (both their landed property and their movable goods) and distributed the price among all, according as any had need46 And day after day they regularly assembled in the temple with united purpose, and in their homes, they broke bread [including the Lord’s Supper]. They partook of their food with gladness and simplicity and generous hearts, 47 Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all the people, and the Lord kept adding [to their number] daily those who were being saved [from spiritual death].”

  • Total Adherence = Righteousness – a condition or state of being that is acceptable to God. Back to basics in this context is having a common and unified objective towards God’s precepts.  I believe we are being called into a deeper allegiance and devotion to God; now this is a cult operation, it is a free will decision to embrace God’s righteousness. Listen to this Bible verse “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” Read Romans 1:17. So who is the righteous man here? We are the righteous and not sinners!!! You can’t be both, you are either righteous or a sinner, and knowing what I now know about God’s Word, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.”
  • Compassion. Back to basics is demonstrating a compassionate disposition towards humanity and especially God’s people. Recall the Bible says, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Read Romans 5:8b(NLT). A practical demonstrable act of kindness was God’s amazing grace to you and me. In like manner, we are to embrace this truth in our interactions and consequently allow this disposition to shape our love for people. Watch this, “we are not to tolerate one another, we are to love one another.Ricky Agba.

Back to basics “Do you have contempt for God, who is very kind to you, puts up with you, and deals patiently with you? Don’t you realize that it is God’s kindness that is trying to lead you to him and change the way you think and act?. Read Romans 2:4 (NOG).

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
