The days are coming, “declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a RIGHTEOUS BRANCH, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which He will be called: THE LORD Our Righteous Savior.” Read Jeremiah 23:5-6 (NIV).
Righteous– means a state or condition acceptable to God. Watch this, our position is in Christ, hence the Bible says, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” My Bible also says, “Christ in me the hope of glory.” It is the life of Christ in you which makes you acceptable in His sight. It is the blood of Jesus, His exceeding abundant grace.
Branch – means to sprout, grow or shoot. Watch this, every branch descends from the vine. So, imagine with me for a minute, if the branch is cut off from the vine, what do you think will happen? It will wither and die. The Bible says, “I am the vine; you are the branches…apart from Me you can do nothing.” Read John 15:5 (NIV). Can you see this? There is no life whatsoever without Christ (Selah).
The Shepherds were destroying, scattering and not caring for the sheep of His pasture. The Lord saw what was going on, and I am sure He still sees what is going on in some of our Churches today. The Bible says, “The Shepherds of My people have lost their senses. They no longer seek wisdom from the Lord. Therefore, they fail completely, and their flocks are scattered.” Read Jeremiah 10:21 (NLT).
Dear five-fold ministry ministers, the Lord is watching how we shepherd His flock; and as He watches, will He find us faithful to what He has committed into our charge? And because of what He sees, He will decide to take back what was always His, the Church, and install people who will shepherd His people with “wisdom and understanding.” Read Jeremiah 3:15 (TLB).
