Honouring the written word above all else – Part 1

Honouring God's Word above all elseIt is inevitable that we will all face one challenge or the other, and the most important question would be, what word are you standing upon in the midst of that challenge? Jesus said, “…but be of good courage; I have overcome the world.” Read John 16:33 (NKJV). God’s Word is the support and foundation upon which we stand. Watch this, God’s Word is SOLID, it is the COLUMN propping us up.

Let us look at the story of our father in the faith, Abraham. The scripture says, “Abraham didn’t focus on his own impotence and say, “It’s hopeless. This hundred-year-old body could never father a child.” Nor did he survey Sarah’s decades of infertility and give up. He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what He had said.” Read Romans 4:19-21 (MSG). Here we see Abraham placing value on God’s promise; therefore, for you, what weighs heavier, the problem or the promise?

A couple of years ago, I sensed the Lord strongly impressing upon me these words, “Son, the attention you give to My word is the way My word will attend to you.” In other words, the Word of God is there to serve us. Whatever you focus on becomes the object of your affection, therefore, focusing on the problem will become magnified in your eyes, but when you focus on God’s promise, His presence and power is magnified and swallows up the problem.

Listen to this, the Word places a responsibility on you and me to act upon. The Bible says, “God honours His Word above His Name.” Think with me for a moment, the angels are on assignment to hear and do God’s Word, hence the Bible says, “…the angels hearken(hear and do)unto the voice of His Words.” This lets me know the angels are constantly paying attention with the sole purpose of executing the instruction given by God. And in like manner, the angels assigned to you and me are waiting for the command of faith-filled words to be deployed for them to act upon.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.

  1. No wonder the bible says:

“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. – Proverbs 4:20-22.

The Word of God is life.
    Thanks for sharing Sir.
