Knowledge is something we all desire, however, it is also important to know what type of knowledge, because not all knowledge is profitable. And to help us understand the term knowledge in context, the Complete Word Study Dictionary gives us some insight; ginṓskō, (“experientially know“) – functional (“working“) knowledge gleaned from first-hand (personal) experience, connecting theory to application; “application-knowledge,” gained in (by) a direct relationship. The Bible says, “…but the people who [are spiritually mature and] know their God will display strength and take action [to resist].” Read Daniel 11:32 (AMP). This is powerful, and from the text, we can infer that KNOWLEDGE = SPIRITUAL MATURITY.
When we truly know God, we will take a firm stand or position, especially in this 21st Century and more than ever before now that liberalism or liberal theology is circulating in our society and dare I say in some of our churches. If we claim to be Christians, then we must stand for God and His Word – there is no middle ground. It is either God’s Word is true or not. And to be able to firmly stand, we must receive our information from the Bible, not from pundits or analysts, and it starts first by you and me opening the Book – the Bible.
The scripture says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.” Read Joshua 1:8 (AMP). This is not a passive text, it is a call to action. And in any case, the scripture was given to you and me to act upon.
Jesus said, “I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless.” Read John 15:5 (TPT). Watch this, the root of our fruitfulness is in God’s Word; it is the source from which we draw our existence. It is the very essence of who were are.
My Father, thank You for committing the glorious treasure of Your word in us, and for that, we are grateful. “We are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as God’s, not ours.” Read 2 Corinthians 4:7 (TPT).
