“God has condescended to become an author, and yet people will not read his writings. There are very few that ever gave this Book of God, the grand charter of salvation, one fair reading through.”George Whitefield.
Interestingly enough, as I began to ponder why the Book of the Law was not found, the Scripture helps us see what was going on in the hearts of those kings; “They did evil in the Lord’s sight.” Read 2 Kings 15 onwards, and you will find several kings indicted by God because they did not find the Book and neither were they willing to lead God’s people towards the truth. Listen to this, “But the final verdict on Rehoboam was that he was a bad king—God was not important to him; his heart neither cared for nor sought after God.” Read 2 Chronicles 12:14 (MSG).
Watch this, “For the shepherds [of the people] have become [like brutes,] irrational and stupid, And have not searched for the Lord or asked about Him or realized their need for Him; Therefore they have not been wise and have not prospered, And all their flocks are scattered.” Read Jeremiah 10:21 (AMP). Can we see this indictment against the Church leadership? Well, you might say, you are not a leader, but certainly you are a leader of some sort, either in your home or at work. Therefore, what guiding principle do we put in place or embrace which honour’s God?
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Read Proverbs 29:2 (KJV). This seems to me, society appreciates the rule of law gotten from the Book of the Law, and it will take Church leaders, etc to mount the pulpits and teach the uncompromising Word of God. Check this, “He will not fear bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting [confidently relying on and believing] in the Lord.” Read Psalm 112:7 (AMP).
My Father, I can’t help but say thank You over and again for the insight and wisdom flowing through Your Word, thank You, I am a recipient of Your exceeding abundant grace and mercy, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
This is such a beautiful writeup.
