By the time of this posting, we will all be in the New Year of 20/20. Now, what does this mean for you and me? See what the Prophet Jeremiah helps you and me to see, “When I discovered Your Words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear Your Name, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.” Read Jeremiah 15:16 (NLT). This is an amazing Scripture, won’t you agree? Jeremiah, the Prophet tells us what he did; he went and discovered God’s Word and it was the joy and the rejoicing of his heart. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, true joy comes from understanding God’s Word. Recall the Scripture which says, “And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.” Read Nehemiah 8:10 (AMP).
Reading and studying the Book of Jeremiah, I found a common theme, “The Word came.” And you will find this throughout the entire 52 chapters. Okay, I am with you Ricky, but what could this indicate? Simply, God was revealing to us how he intended on communicating with His people; through His written and spoken Word. “Now, the Word of the Lord came to me saying.” Beloved, whenever the Word of God comes to you and me, it does so with instructions – “saying.” Beloved, if you and I are going to advance in anything worthwhile in this life, then we must be hearing what God is saying.
Hmmnn! I suppose some are saying, well, God gave us intellect, and that is true, but, He did not intend for our intellect to operate independently of Him, Selah! Recall what Jesus said, “I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.” Read John 15:5 (AMP).
I will go further to say, God expects us to yield our intellects under the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, hence, the Bible says, “But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the Lit flesh sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].” Read Galatians 5:16 (AMP). This New Year, I want to encourage us to be practitioners; people of the Word and of the Spirit.
I believe, the difference-maker for you and me this year will be prioritising what is at the heart of God – loving God, loving God’s people and loving His Word. The Bible says, “The religious scholar answered, “It states, ‘You must love the Lord God with all your heart, all your passion, all your energy, and your every thought. And you must love your neighbour as well as you love yourself.’ ” Read Luke 10:27 (TPT).
“The simple sense of wonder at the shapes of things, and at their exuberant independence of our intellectual standards and our trivial definitions, is the basis of spirituality.” Gilbert K. Chesterton.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being the constant and faithful Father. You are just too much and too good. What else can I say to You my Father? I am in awe of You sir.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
Happy New Year to my Father in Heaven.
