Marks of the true Christian – Part 1b

Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:1-2 (NASB)

Here, we see the apostle plead with us to, “Present your bodies“, which connotes surrendering our whole selves [Body, Spirit and Mind or soul], in other words, the entirety of who we are to God. It can also be understood as, living a life total consecration pleases and honors God. Beloved, living the Christian life of faith requires God’s help, hence, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ saith the Lord of hosts” Read Zechariah 4:6 (KJV). We equally understand from the counsel of God, “No one shall succeed by strength alone.” Read 1 Samuel 2:9 (TLB).

Watch this, when we truly present our bodies to God, it is indeed an act of worship which the Lord is pleased with. Hence, “God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” Read John 4:24 (MSG). Beloved, why then must we present our bodies? Because, it is the instrument through which the soul acts. Listen to this, “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” Read Romans 6:13 (KJV). Listen to this, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Read Romans 8:11 (NASB).

We also must present our bodies because it is the chief sources of temptation and sin. Therefore, we cannot afford to be careless in the way we live our lives. Watch this beloved, in our salvation, the soul and spirit are redeemed, “And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified.” Read Romans 8:30 (NASB), but the body is not yet redeemed. The apostle says, “And not only that, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons and daughters, the redemption of our body.” Read Romans 8:23 (NASB).

Beloved, there is a lot more which can be said, but I will encourage you to spend some time studying the entire book of Romans, hence, my encouragement is based on “For if you are living according to the [impulses of the] flesh, you are going to die. But if [you are living] by the [power of the Holy] Spirit you are habitually putting to death the sinful deeds of the body, you will [really] live forever.” Read Romans 8:13 (AMP).

Father in heaven, help me as I desire to present my body without blemish or any pollution, that is acceptable unto You my Lord and Saviour. I am grateful for the help of the Holy Spirit, who helps me daily.

Marques du vrai chrétien – Partie 1b

C’est pourquoi je vous exhorte, frères et sœurs, par la miséricorde de Dieu, à présenter vos corps comme un sacrifice vivant et saint, acceptable pour Dieu, qui est votre service spirituel d’adoration. Et ne vous conformez pas à ce monde, mais soyez transformés par le renouvellement de votre esprit, afin que vous puissiez prouver ce qu’est la volonté de Dieu, ce qui est bon, acceptable et parfait.

Romains 12:1-2 (NASB)

Ici, nous voyons l’apôtre nous implorer de “Présentez vos corps,” ce qui signifie abandonner tout notre moi [Corps, Esprit et Esprit ou âme], en d’autres termes, l’intégralité de qui nous sommes à Dieu. Il peut aussi être compris comme, vivre une vie la consécration totale plaît et honore Dieu. Bien-aimés, vivre la vie chrétienne de foi exige l’aide de Dieu, par conséquent: “Non pas par la force ni par la puissance, mais par mon Esprit ,” dit le Seigneur des armées,” Lire Zacharie 4:6 (KJV). Nous comprenons également, d’après le conseil de Dieu: “Nul ne réussira par la seule force.” Lire 1 Samuel 2:9 (TLB).

Veillez ceci, lorsque nous présentons vraiment notre corps à Dieu, c’est en effet un acte d’adoration dont le Seigneur est satisfait. Par conséquent, « Dieu est l’être pur lui-même – l’Esprit.  Ceux qui L’adorent doivent le faire de leur être même, de leur esprit, de leur vrai moi, en adoration. Lire Jean 4:24 (MSG). Bien-aimés, pourquoi alors devons-nous présenter notre corps ? Parce que c’est l’instrument à travers lequel l’âme agit. Écoutez ceci: “Ne cédez pas non plus vos membres comme instruments d’injustice au péché: mais abandonnez-vous à Dieu, comme ceux qui sont vivants d’entre les morts, et vos membres comme instruments de justice pour Dieu.” Lire Romains 6:13 (KJV). Écoutez ceci: “Mais si l’Esprit de Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus d’entre les morts habite en vous, Celui qui a ressuscité Jésus-Christ d’entre les morts donnera aussi la vie à vos corps mortels par Son Esprit qui habite en vous.” Lire Romains 8:11 (NASB).

Nous devons aussi présenter notre corps parce qu’il est la principale source de tentation et de péché. Par conséquent, nous ne pouvons pas nous permettre d’être négligents dans la façon dont nous vivons nos vies. Regardez ce bien-aimé, dans notre salut, l’âme et l’esprit sont rachetés, “Et ceux qu’Il a prédestinés Qu’Il a aussi appelés, et ceux qu’Il a appelés Il a aussi justifiés, et ceux qu’Il a justifiés Il a aussi glorifiés.” Lire Romains 8:30 (NASB), mais le corps n’est pas encore racheté. L’apôtre dit: “Et non seulement cela, mais aussi nous-mêmes, ayant les prémices de l’Esprit, nous-mêmes gémissons en nous-mêmes, attendant avec impatience notre adoption en tant que fils et filles, la rédemption de notre corps.” Lire Romains 8:23 (NASB).

Bien-aimés, il y a beaucoup plus à dire, mais je vous encouragerai à passer un peu de temps à étudier tout le livre des Romains, par conséquent, mon encouragement est basé sur “Car si vous vivez selon les [impulsions de la] chair, vous allez mourir. Mais si [vous vivez] par la [puissance du Saint] Esprit, vous  mettez habituellement à mort les actes pécheurs du corps, vous vivrez [vraiment] pour toujours.” Lire Romains 8:13 (AMP).

Père céleste, aide-moi comme je désire présenter mon corps sans tache ni pollution, ce qui est acceptable pour Toi mon Seigneur et Sauveur. Je suis reconnaissant pour l’aide du Saint-Esprit, qui m’aide quotidiennement.
