Do not worry then, saying, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.

“Always SEEK peace between your HEART and GOD, but in this world, always be careful to remain ever-restless, never satisfied, and always abounding in the work of the Lord.” Jim Elliot. The term always connotes continually, incessantly, forever, perpetually, and unfailingly. Beloved, this speaks of prioritisation, does it not? So, I ask you beloved, what is a priority to you? Is it going to be God above all else, or will you continue in your same old way of living life, half-hearted with God?
I want to revisit the Martha and Mary story and point out something so crucial. “Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. And she had a sister called Mary, who was also seated at the Lord’s feet, and was listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do the serving by myself? Then tell her to help me.” But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Read Luke 10:38-42 (NASB).
Prioritise sitting at the feet of Christ, listening, and hearing His Word: Why is this so important? Recall the Bible says, “Your Word is a lamp that gives light wherever I walk.” Read Psalm 119:105 (CEV). One commentator writes, “To walk safely in the woods at night, we need a light, so we don’t trip over tree roots or fall into a hole. In this life, we walk through a dark forest of evil. But the Bible can be our light to show us the way ahead, so we won’t stumble as we walk.” Watch this, if we do not prioritise the Word of God to lighten our path, then darkness is inevitable. We live in a very dark and ungodly world and the one thing that will sustain you and me is the light of the gospel of Christ.
The Bible says, “Understand that man shall not live on bread alone, but man shall live on everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord.” Read Deuteronomy 8:3 (NASB). Bread is a common dietary food. In other words, the way bread is to the natural, so should God’s Word be natural to us. Beloved, the way this happens is if we do the following:
- Meditate on the Word of God – “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will achieve success.” Joshua 1:8
- Study the Word of God – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
- Prioritise Holiness and Righteousness – “But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage]; because it is written, “You shall be holy (set apart), for I am Holy.”
Beloved, sitting, listening, hearing and doing the Word of God are the most important ingredients to living a life of fruitfulness in Christ. This has to be our PRIORITY and is too critical to ignore. Heavenly Father, thank You because the “Words that You speak, they are spirit, and they are life.” As I hear these words of life, let my life reflect Your glory, and be stirred up to do Your will in Christ’s name.

“Cherchez toujours la paix entre votre CŒUR et DIEU, mais dans ce monde, veillez toujours à rester toujours agités, jamais satisfaits et toujours abondants dans l’œuvre du Seigneur.” Jim Elliot. Le terme connote toujours continuellement, sans cesse, pour toujours, perpétuellement et infailliblement. Bien-aimé, cela parle de priorisation, n’est-ce pas? Alors, je vous le demande, bien-aimé, quelle est la priorité pour vous? Est-ce que ce sera Dieu au-dessus de tout, ou allez-vous continuer dans votre ancienne façon de vivre la vie, sans enthousiasme avec Dieu?
Je veux revenir sur l’histoire de Marthe et Marie et souligner quelque chose de si crucial. “Maintenant qu’ils voyageaient, il entra dans un village; et une femme nommée Marthe l’accueillit chez elle. Et elle avait une sœur appelée Marie, qui était également assise aux pieds du Seigneur et écoutait Sa parole. Mais Martha était distraite par tous ses préparatifs; et elle s’approcha de lui et lui dit: “Seigneur, ne te soucies-tu pas que ma sœur m’ait laissée faire le service par moi-même? Alors dites-lui de m’aider. Mais le Seigneur répondit et lui dit: “Marthe, Marthe, tu es inquiète et distraite par beaucoup de choses; Mais une seule chose est nécessaire; car Marie a choisi la bonne part, qui ne lui sera pas enlevée. Lire Luc 10:38-42 (NASB).
Donnez la priorité à vous asseoir aux pieds du Christ, à écouter et à écouter Sa Parole : Pourquoi est-ce si important? Rappelez-vous que la Bible dit: “Ta Parole est une lampe qui donne de la lumière partout où je marche.” Lire le Psaume 119:105 (CEV). Un commentateur écrit: “Pour marcher en toute sécurité dans les bois la nuit, nous avons besoin d’une lumière, afin de ne pas trébucher sur les racines des arbres ou tomber dans un trou. Dans cette vie, nous marchons à travers une forêt sombre du mal. Mais la Bible peut être notre lumière pour nous montrer le chemin à suivre, afin que nous ne trébuchions pas en marchant.” Regardez ceci, si nous ne donnons pas la priorité à la Parole de Dieu pour éclairer notre chemin, alors les ténèbres sont inévitables. Nous vivons dans un monde très sombre et impie et la seule chose qui nous soutiendra, vous et moi, c’est la lumière de l’Évangile du Christ.
La Bible dit: “Comprenez que l’homme ne vivra pas seulement de pain, mais que l’homme vivra de tout ce qui sort de la bouche du Seigneur.” Lire Deutéronome 8:3 (NASB). Le pain est un aliment diététique commun. En d’autres termes, la façon dont le pain est naturel, la Parole de Dieu devrait être naturelle pour nous. Bien-aimé, la façon dont cela se produit est si nous faisons ce qui suit:
- Méditez sur la Parole de Dieu – “Ce Livre de la Loi ne sortira pas de ta bouche, mais tu le méditeras jour et nuit, afin que tu sois attentif à faire selon tout ce qui y est écrit; car alors vous ferez votre chemin prospère, et alors vous réussirez.” Josué 1:8
- Étudiez la Parole de Dieu – “Étudiez pour vous montrer approuvé à Dieu, un ouvrier qui n’a pas besoin d’avoir honte, en divisant correctement la parole de vérité.” 2 Timothée 2:15
- Donnez la priorité à la sainteté et à la justice – “Mais comme le Saint qui vous a appelés, soyez saints vous-mêmes dans toute votre conduite [soyez mis à part du monde par votre caractère pieux et votre courage moral]; parce qu’il est écrit: “Tu seras saint (mis à part), car je suis saint.”
Être aimé, s’asseoir, écouter, entendre et faire la Parole de Dieu sont les ingrédients les plus importants pour vivre une vie féconde en Christ. Cela doit être notre PRIORITÉ et est trop critique pour être ignoré. Père céleste, merci parce que les “paroles que vous prononcez, elles sont esprit et elles sont vie.” En entendant ces paroles de vie, que ma vie reflète Ta gloire et qu’elle soit incitée à faire Ta volonté au nom du Christ.
