The Lepers Gratitude – Part 1

Read more: The Lepers Gratitude – Part 1

The story of the Lepers is not about Jesus’s power to heal them but has more to do with the response of the heart of the one who returned to give thanks and falling on his face to worship God. The story also reveals that Christ was not just interested in physical healing but, most importantly, in the salvation of their souls; spiritual cleansing and restoration. The story also reveals the depth of faith in the leper who came back to worship at Christ’s feet.

Sometimes we fall prey to being comfortable and lackadaisical about life, and forgetting to remember God’s goodness, mercy, grace and love. Spurgeon writes, “One would have thought that all who pray would praise.” Charles Spurgeon. Listen to what the Bible says, “Remember this, and be assured; cause it to return to your heart, you transgressors. Remember the former things long past, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, ‘My counsel will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure’, calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of My counsel from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have formed it, surely I will do it.” Read Isaiah 46:8-11 (LSB). When you remember God’s faithfulness, grace, love, favour and mercy, when you remember His deeds towards the children of men, I hope that it triggers praise in your heart.

Listen to King David’s musing, “Who am I, O Lord Yahweh, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?” Read 2 Samuel 7:18 (LSB). David acknowledged and worshipped God, ‘overwhelmed by His promise to bring his kingdom through David’s seed.’ Watch this, concerning God Almighty, the only thing of value that we can offer Him is our praise and worship at His feet. The Bible says, “God rests in the praise of His people.” Read Psalm 22:3. Beloved, praise is a spiritual force, which draws power from God’s Word to produce victory in every circumstance of life.

The Bible says, “My mouth is filled with Your praise and with Your beauty all day long.” Read Psalm 71:8 (LSB).

We write. You read. Be encouraged.

Indeed, dear brother, a fundamental truth we tend to forget. Sometimes we condition our worship to God’s provision and forget He has already given us everything, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

May God help us to live in full worship to him.

    Very touching thoughts.
