But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. Read 2 Corinthians 4: 7 (KJV).
Read more: The one with the Pitcher – Part 1The Pitcher is a receptacle used to hold any form of liquid. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the Pitcher, “Is a handled container for holding and pouring liquids that usually has a lip or a spout.” In other words, the Pitcher is built to Take In and to Give Out. The word Pitcher is also a very popular term in a certain sport called baseball. The Pitcher is the player who throws the baseball from the Pitchers mound toward the catcher to begin play. From a sporting perspective, the Pitcher must release the ball, else it would be called as “No Pitch.”
The Greek rendering of the word Pitcher means ‘earthen vessel.’ There is something about you and I carry, which the world cannot do without. Think with me for a moment, the greatest treasure (the Gospel of Salvation) is deposited in our frail human bodies which needs to be poured out freely. Recall the Bible says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.” Read Ephesians 2:10a.
Whenever you feel unworthy, or think that you have nothing to offer, remember that God’s treasure is in you for the benefit of others. We must dig deep within, to locate the treasure God has deposited in us, and make the best use of it, through proclaiming the Gospel of Christ. Beloved, there is creativity in you, and the Book of Galatians 6:4 articulates the thought so succinctly.
Father in Heaven, thank You for making me a useful vessel, fit for the masters use. Thank You for giving me the strength and wisdom to navigate each phase of life without losing my identity in Christ.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
