When we speak of TRUE REPENTANCE, it is prudent to ask how does one know the difference between TRUE REPENTANCE and SHALLOW REPENTANCE? Matthew informs us we should be able to identify what TRUE REPENTANCE looks like. And before we delve into what TRUE REPENTANCE looks like, let us find out what SHALLOW REPENTANCE is? Shallow repentance is described in this text, “What I want from you is plain and clear: I want your constant love, not your animal sacrifices. I would rather have My people know Me than burn offerings to Me. “But as soon as they entered the land at Adam, they broke the covenant I had made with them.” Read Hosea 6:5b-7 (GNT). Can you see this? They were never serious with their commitment, and that is what shallow repentance looks like. As it relates to you and me, is our remorse superficial and does it lack true conviction? This is a question we must answer.
