Preaching the message of REPENTANCE can be very tough and if not properly understood will cause the listeners to be upset or even offended. Listen to John the Baptist, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Read Matthew 3:2 (NIV). Now, fast forward “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the [divine] wrath and judgment to come? So produce fruit that is consistent with repentance [demonstrating new behaviour that proves a change of heart, and a conscious decision to turn away from sin].” Read Matthew 3:7-8 (AMP).
