The Psalmist says “God exalted His Word above His Name.” Read Psalm 138:2. Watch this, God’s word will not compromise His reputation, because His word is His reputation, His word is the very essence of His person. Recall the scripture says “As He is, so are we in this world…,” in other words, our words ought to be a representation of who we are. Now let me remind you, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Read Colossians 1:27. Christ is the word deposited in you from the foundations of the world. John 1:1 “in the beginning was the word (Christ), and the word became flesh and dwelt amongst us…” In other words, the spoken word is meant to be our global positioning system – GPS, and not what circumstance tries to dictate or what the intellectual or cerebral tries to plant on us; the spoken word will rightly position you. Undoubtedly, there are major challenges that people face, and sometimes it can look like there seem to be no hope, but I am hear to tell and remind you “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Christ is our only hope in a society filled with disintegrating values and principles.
Oh, this is so strong, Gods word is our only defense folks – Selah (pause and calmly think). Any other value or proposition outside the spoken word will come to nothing; well you might say, I see some progress being made here and there, but remember the scripture says in Jeremiah 10:23 (TLB) “O Lord, I know it is not within the power of man to map his life and plan his course,” hence I encourage you, get back into the spoken word of God, give your whole heart to it; Acts 6:4 (NIV), gives us this wonderful exhortation “and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.”
John Stott, a renowned English Christian Leader wrote “we must allow the word of God – (the spoken word – added by me) to confront us, to disturb our security, to undermine our complacency and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behaviour.” As we embrace and allow the word take first place and dominate our thoughts and behaviours, the more confident we become in speaking the spoken word.
Principles govern almost everything we decide to do in life, and if we take a look at a principle we are all familiar with, I am sure you will gain a better perspective. Students of physics are taught that air planes fly as a result of Bernoulli’s principle which says “if air speeds up, the pressure is lowered, thus the wing generates lift because the air goes faster over the top creating a region of low pressure, and thus lift.” Likewise the spoken word of God works by principles, and check out our next post for these very important principles.
We write You read Be encouraged.
The word of God is truly what we need to give us the peace and fulfillment in life that we need. I pray that I will continue to have this seed he has given to grow continually in my life.
