When God said Arise, I believe the emphasis was on us Arising into our destiny and purpose. Therefore, I would like to emphasize on what we have been asked to Arise unto. However, before we go in depth, the Bible counsels, “Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.” Read Ephesians 5:14 (AMPC). Here, you can see there is an emphasis placed on light (illumination, insight and comprehension). This makes me understand Gods intention for us is to rise to the highest level of illumination in Him, hence the Bible says, “And before my eyes a door stood open in Heaven, and in my ears was the voice with the ring of a trumpet, which I had heard at first, speaking to me and saying, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen in the future.”Read Revelation 4:1 (PHILLIPS). Evidently, the Lord desires for us not to be ignorant of His plans, hence I believe the Lord is re-echoing His counsel, “My light is shinning, and would bring you illumination and insight, walk therefore in that light.”
Watch this beloved, the scriptures says, “…Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” Read Isaiah 60:1-3 (NIV). This can only come about when you and I arise and take our place in the plan of God. Especially in the times and seasons we are in; the brightness of Gods everlasting to everlasting light becomes critical in our walk and effectiveness as Christians.
Meditating and thinking through the Biblical verse, the question comes up, how do we arise? Yes, I know God has asked us to, but how do we go about it? Let us look through Biblical text to help us gain concept and understanding what exactly it is we have been asked to do.
Awake to Righteousness – Let us check out what the Bible says, “Think straight. Awaken to the holiness of life. No more playing fast and loose with resurrection facts. Ignorance of God is a luxury you can’t afford in times like these. Aren’t you embarrassed that you’ve let this kind of thing go on as long as you have?” Read 1 Corinthians 15:34 (MSG). In other words, we should shun and not be comfortable with injustice, instead we should cultivate a state of being that is fitting and deserving in honour to our God. We can’t afford to be passive any longer in our relationship and fellowship with God and His word. The scripture is pretty much saying, from henceforth, we do it “Gods way,” and not “your way.” Selah.
I say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.”
