Be Being Filled – Part 2

imagesThere is relief when you know that your fuel tank is fully loaded. It gives you a level of comfort and confidence knowing that you have enough in store for the journey. Now the interesting thing about running on full tank is; it is within your control to determine. The Bible says, “Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him.” Read Ephesians 5:18 (MSG). This scripture verse is quite instructive telling you and I to be filled in excess to overflowing of the Holy Spirit. And it is from the overflow in your spirit that you execute the counsel of God on the earth. From my first post, I did mention that I was going to tie Galatians 5:22 and Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) because I believe from these verses of scriptures we would be able to see very clear consequences of being filled, running a full tank of the Holy Spirit.

Comparing and contrasting Galatians 5:19 (AMP) which says, “Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions [that promote heresies], envy, drunkenness, riotous behaviour, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” In other words, the effect of running on a low tank of the Holy Spirit leads to clear indices as stated in Galatians 5:19.

Whilst Galatians 5:22 (AMP) says, “But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” Let us drill into this, when you and I are filled with the Spirit to overflowing, it becomes much easier to function and walk in the fruit of the Spirit. Think with me for a minute, would it be possible for you and I to walk in the fruit of the Spirit if we are not full of Him? Categorically not possible, why? Because the Holy Spirit is our helper, and without Him we can do absolutely nothing. And we are instructed to be “Filled” with Him, and the consequence of this would be those sweet words in Galatians 5:22 (Love, Joy, Peace, Patience Kindness, Goodness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control).

Here is another incredible verse of scripture telling us about the consequences of running on a full tank of the Holy Spirit. Let us read Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG) says, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with mewatch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” This is so powerful. Selah.  And I truly believe, this is an invitation from Almighty God at this time to be filled with Him. The Bible says, “For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]. Read John 1:16 (AMP).

Dearly, beloved, these are clear consequences of being filled with the Holy Spirit or the lack of it. I truly believe with all of my heart that God wants us to maximize the potency and power of the Holy Spirit which was given to us on the day of Salvation. He is the only one who can fill us to the full without running out, hence the Bible says, “You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.” Read Psalm 23:5 (NLT).

Here it is again beloved, the Lord wants His grace and power overflowing in our lives. I desperately want that overflow in my life and I desire the same for you. I believe this is the only way you and I will get ahead in this life, because “As He is so are we in this life.” Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and with power! This is truly an amazing insight. I would have been jumping and shouting if I heard someone teach me this. I thought I heard someone say, “This is elementary stuff?” If it was, why then are you not doing it? Selah.

So we are faced with two options, ARE YOU FULL OR EMPTY? I have given you some clues to be being filled. No longer should we need to stay empty.

Watch this, every success in our lives would be based on Gods word overflowing in our lives. I want to stir you up not to accept mediocrity in your life; go and get yourself filled with the Holy Spirit, and overflow so that you can distribute to others. This is my challenge to us.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
