The most important honor you and I can give to God is when we accept His counsel and act on it. Imagine the joy when a parent tells their child to do something, and without hesitation the child goes ahead acting on the instructions. God is no different in expressing His joy when He sees us totally acting on His word. A wise man once said, “God’s word is given so that we can act on it.” It is one thing to hear, and another thing to act on what you have heard.
- You must be a doer of the word of God.
- “Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.” Read James 1:22-24 (MSG). Think with me for a moment, your confidence to seat on your chair is never in doubt because you are absolutely sure of the chairs ability to hold your weight; therefore, you act and seat without hesitation. In like manner, our attitude where the word is concerned should be to “HEAR AND DO.” The Bible says the “Angels hearken unto the voice of His word.” In others, they hear and do, not only that, they are swift to execute or carry out God’s counsel.
- “Therefore everyone who HEARS these words of Mine and ACTS on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Read Matthew 7:24 (NASB). Here we see wisdom is associated with acting on the word of God. The Bible further goes on to say, “For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift].” Read John 1:16 (AMP). Beloved, we know and have been endowed with much; let us go out and do. Watch this, information or the lack thereof is not the problem, a lack of action seems to be the impediment, and you and I would need to break away from the spirit of laxity and fear trusting the power of the Holy Spirit to help us in Jesus Name, to achieve all that God has in store for us.
- Being a doer of the word affects every facet of our lives. Remember, God’s word is the pillar and embodiment of all truth, hence the Bible calls it “present truth,” in other words it is as relevant and authentic as you need it to be.
Let me conclude with this, “God’s laws are perfect. They protect us, make us wise, and give us joy and light. God’s laws are pure, eternal, just. They are more desirable than gold. They are sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb. For they warn us away from harm and give success to those who obey them. But how can I ever know what sins are lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. And keep me from deliberate wrongs; help me to stop doing them. Only then can I be free of guilt and innocent of some great crime. May my spoken words and unspoken thoughts be pleasing even to you, Oh Lord my Rock and my Redeemer.” Read Psalm 19:7-14 (TLB), Hallelujah.
As I have alluded to in previous posts, I am a first time reader like everyone else of what is being posted. I get tremendous blessings and encouragement from these topics, and I thank my God that He has counted me faithful, putting me in the ministry. It is indeed an awesome privilege to communicate with millions of people all over the world with God’s truth.
