I attended a church service this past Sunday – Heritage Assembly Benin City, and the question was asked by the Pastor, what is the content of your life? These words resonated with me once I heard it, and the Pastor made this following comment, “it is not moving from one season to another, but the content of your life going into the new season is what matters.” Ojei Ohiwere. In other words, our emphasis should not be that we are moving from one year or season into another, instead, it ought to be about the content of one’s heart and life going into the new year.
Scripture tells us, “But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart. It’s from the heart that we vomit up evil arguments, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, and cussing. That’s what pollutes.” Read Matthew 15:18-20 (MSG). Therefore, if the content of our heart is polluted, then we can assume there will be an imbalance in one’s person’s life. Watch this, there is a connection between our heart and mouth. And I believe this Biblical text is crucial for our understanding, “For as he thinketh in his soul, so is he.” Read Proverbs 23:7 (DARBY).
News flash, you are responsible for the contents of your heart and life, which will inadvertently affect your life. The things we expose ourselves to etc. Listen to what the Bible says, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us, therefore, cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting, drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lust thereof.” Read Romans 13:12-13 (KJV).
Watch this, your life will go in the direction of the predominant thoughts in your heart, Selah. And what you give attention to the most will equally direct the course of one’s life. So I ask us this question, what is the content of your heart?
