MILK vs STRONG MEAT The bible speaks of two levels of WORD (MILK and STRONG meat) which extrapolates to two categories of the Christians (INFANCY and MATURED). Context: Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:2
MILK of the word: 1 Peter 2:2 Like newborn infants, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. Literally, Milk belongs to infants. STRONG MEAT: Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belong to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of USE have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
In literal terms, Strong meat belongs to those who have used and experienced enough to know what is and what is not. 1 Corinthians 3:2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not read.
Contextually; Paul wrote this to address church-related problems that were common among the Corinthian congregation. ‘Milk as used above (Greek gala) means the basic, rudimentary and elemental teachings of Christ first learned by new believers. The word ‘Meat’, comes from the (Greek Broma) means the more complete and deeper spiritual doctrines of the Gospel. Today the relevance of this gospel has never wavered.
Peter also wrote to the Hebrews 5:11 – 12 For truly, by this time you ought to be teachers, but instead, you need to have someone teach you again what are the beginning principles of the oracles of God and have become those in need of milk, and not of solid food.
Now that scriptures talk about ‘babyhood’ and ‘matured’ Christianity and the level of word that would make them grow, it is important to know where you belong, so that you can eat the right meal and them be able to grow into undeniable and testimonies, otherwise it’d become a mere religious obligation with ineffective word proven by lack of proofs, which can only be solved by self-evaluation and knowledge of what level of word you need.
After all, infants cannot chew or digest strong meat. Liken it to Primary, Secondary and University Educational levels, taking a course in Photosynthesis; the levels of depth and focus will definitely differ between these three tiers. That brings us to the prophetic importance of the subject matter; A Christian’s effectiveness is resultant of proper spiritual nutrition, in other words, solid food is of quality use to infants, milk will not sustain the matured.
Our Christian maturity is very important, zero stunted growth doing what we should be doing, enjoying the level we dreamed about. Not faking it but making with undeniable proofs as living-proofs of Christ. Always examining ourselves as prescribed in 2 Corinthians 13:5.
Conclusively, it is therefore important to know that these scriptures were actually directed to address Christian Growth, and today it prophetically beggars for us today to know where we stand, nitrate accordingly and grow into the fullness of Christ, this is the Prophetic Agenda of this scripture for this dispensation.
May you find the right nutrition for you, and experience tremendous growth that will yield undeniable results to the Praise and Glory of God.
