“This is how much God loved the world: He GAVE His Son, His one and only Son.” Read John 3:16 (MSG). Think with me for a moment, who has given their son as a gift of sacrifice? Or let me ask it this way, will it enter into your heart to ever consider giving your only son for the salvation of another? Now, He did not just GIVE to a specific class of people, He GAVE for the benefit of all of humanity. And as recipients of this GIFT, our lives are rich and sustained by this precious and unrepeatable sacrifice.
We are still talking about the content of your life, and how you can be a content provider for your life and that of others associated with you. Listen to this quote, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” Anne Frank. Have you noticed, God is still receiving returns on His investment? In other words, your GIVING is what will sustain you from eternity to eternity. Wherever the word of God is preached either in groups of two’s or millions, people are making decisions on a daily basis to respond to the call of God tugging at their hearts. Here is my point, GIVING is another sure way of ensuring the content of your life is rich towards God by receiving His gift of salvation.
Watch this, GIVING is not just about money, it goes well beyond that. God never gave anyone money, did He? No, He did not, instead, He gave us something money can’t buy – He GAVE us Himself, Selah. Let us look at some Bible stories of people who GAVE, and how their GIVING changed their lives.
- The widow’s oil
- Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have [of value] in the house?” She said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a [small] jar of [olive] oil.” “…Then the oil stopped [multiplying]. Then she came and told the man of God. He said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.” Read 2 Kings 4:2 (AMP). Here, we can see the effect of the widow’s GIVING, it related to multiplication and sustainability.
- The Shunammite Woman and her Son.
- “Now there came a day when Elisha went over to Shunem, where there was a prominent and influential woman, and she persuaded him to eat a meal. Afterwards, whenever he passed by, he stopped there for a meal. She said to her husband, “Behold, I sense that this is a holy man of God who frequently passes our way. Please, let us make a small, fully-walled upper room [on the housetop] and put a bed there for him, with a table, a chair, and a lampstand. Then whenever he comes to visit us, he can turn in there.” Read 2 Kings 4:8-37 (AMP). Listen to this, the Shunammite woman’s son was brought back to life because of the acts of kindness and her GIVING.
God’s GIFT of His Son is what is still enriching our lives. Without receiving God’s GIFT of His Son, there can be no life. And if you are reading this and have not acknowledged Christ as your saviour, then I will encourage you to do quickly. How you might ask? “Father, I acknowledge the GIFT of Your Son for my salvation. I receive Your Son today in Jesus Name. Amen.
