Waiting is important – Part 2

waitingis importantRecall the times growing up and going out to the market or shops with your parents; what happens? They hold your hands and ask you to wait and not to go ahead of them. In like manner, God does the same with us. Now imagine with me for a moment, if we should run off ahead of our parents, I suppose two things can happen when they catch up with us: 1. Get told off. 2. Grounded and all privileges withdrawn for a while depending on the severity of the offence. In like manner, we are told, “For the LORD disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child.” Read Hebrews 12:6 (NLT).

Listen to this, “Wait on the Lord” is a constant refrain in the Psalms, and it is a necessary word, for God often keeps us waiting. He is not in such a hurry as we are, and it is not his way to give more light on the future than we need for action in the present or to guide us more than one step at a time. When in doubt, do nothing, but continue to wait on God. When action is needed, light will come.” J. I. Packer. There is a blessing sometimes in not knowing what to do because it forces you to wait only on God for the next steps. Sometimes, we try everything possible we know to do, yet it just seems nothing works.

Watch this, it takes courage and patience to wait on God. Waiting will challenge everything you seem to know and expose you to you. What do I mean? What you think you know might not necessarily be enough till you encounter waiting, and you realize, I need to know and go deeper in God.

In my personal life, the waiting or wilderness experience is something I have to embrace because I know from time to time it will happen (so I might as well be fully prepared) because of God’s plan purpose and pursuits for my life and family, and I have to position myself in the Word of God to successfully navigate those very trying times. This is not exclusive to me alone, you better be prepared because it is coming your way as well.

Guess what, waiting reveals exactly what is in you!
