“There are four principles we need to maintain: First, read the Word of God. Second, consume the Word of God until it consumes you. Third, believe the Word of God. Fourth, act on the Word.” Smith Wigglesworth. Brothers and sisters, in this polarized world; these four principles will keep you firm and rooted.
I want to show you someone in the Bible who exemplified the strength of character to not allow himself to be moulded by the pressures of society or the environment he engaged with. He did not allow the society of his day to deconstruct his faith and trust in God. And you guessed right, I am talking about Joseph. “But the Lord was with Joseph, and he [though a slave] was a successful and prosperous man, and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all that he did to flourish and succeed in his hand.” Read Genesis 39:2 (AMPC). And it is because of this text, I said, “our success is not in the hands of society.” Joseph’s prosperity was not in the hands of society, but God’s Kingdom.
Watch this, Joseph refused the trappings and advances of Potiphar’s wife. And how did he do this? Because he honoured God. Well, how do you know this? See what Joseph said, “How then can I do this great evil and sin against God?” Joseph was faced with a choice, and he chose to honour God with his choice by “refusing” to fall into the trap. Hence, let us not allow the society to shape our thought patterns because God can be 100% trusted.
Joseph showed us an example of how we can thrive and succeed without having to compromise; and still, show the world that we can maintain our integrity and not yield to the pressures. You and I can refuse…
