“The Christian has to live in the world, but he must draw all his resources from outside of the world.” Donald Grey Barnhouse. As Christians, we cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand. God placed you and me in the context of society to be change agents, and not to be part of it. And we should not be afraid about engaging the society; that is where our light will shine the brightest.
The Bible says, “For we must never forget that He rescued us from the power of darkness, and re-established us in the kingdom of His beloved Son, that is, in the kingdom of light. For it is by His Son alone that we have been redeemed and have had our sins forgiven.” Read Colossians 1:13 (PHILLIP). In other words, you and I are not alone in society; His help is always available, hence the Bible says, “whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord is saved.”
The Bible counsels “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all His demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.” Read Romans 12:2 (NLT). So here we see the counsel of God to us, to resist every effort to allow the world pressure one into any societal mode, instead, let us pursue with fervency God’s word which is capable of moulding and shaping us into His image and likeness.
Watch this, your shape is unique to you, likewise is mine, and I want to encourage us to wear what fits us, the Bible calls it putting on Christ, hence the bible says, “Let the Lord Jesus Christ be as near to you as the clothes you wear. Then you won’t try to satisfy your selfish desires.” Read Romans 13:14 (CEV). Putting on Christ is not something we wear one day and take another day, a million times no, it is the attire we wear till eternity. This attire never gets old, dirtyy, worn or torn, instead it is new everyday.
Ladies and gentlemen, this has been an awesome lesson and my eyes have been enlightened even the more, including re-energizing my faith and desire to serve my Father and Lord for the rest of my days. My Father, I am eternally grateful and appreciate your loving grace and kindness.
#Keep up with the word. The Holy Spirit is working in you.
