Listen to this quote, “Christianity is not devotion to work, or to a cause, or a doctrine, but devotion to a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Oswald Chambers. The Bible says, “Seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness – Singly aim at this, that God, reigning in your heart, may fill it with the righteousness above described. And indeed whosoever seeks this first, will soon come to seek this only.” Matthew 6:33 (WNT). Preferring God’s way above all else is demonstrating “I am a Christian first.” The Bible says, “Therefore, your hearts are to be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as [you are doing] today.” Read 1 Kings 8:61 (AMP). Watch this, our devotion should be to God, and Him alone.
Oh, someone might be asking, if I am being told to be devoted to God alone, how about my family and loved ones. Watch this, if we are devoted to God, then the outcome of our devotion to God will inadvertently permeate every other area of our lives. Remember, it is God first.
“It costs something to be a real Christian, according to the standard of the Bible. There are enemies to be overcome, battles to be fought, sacrifices to be made, an Egypt to be forsaken, a wilderness to be passed through, a cross to be carried, a race to be run. Conversion is not putting a person in an arm-chair and taking them easily to heaven. It is the beginning of a mighty conflict, in which it costs much to win the victory.” J. C. Ryle.
Here is a question, will you and your house serve the Lord? God is knocking at the door of your heart. Let Him in, and allow Him to transform your life.
My Father, My Father, My Father, thank You for Your exceeding abundant grace. It is a privilege Lord to be called a Christian because of the sacrifice of Your precious Son, Jesus, and for that, I will forever serve You with my life. I declare, …”But for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15.
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
Really blessed by this… Keep on and God bless Kolumns.
