Samuel: Israel’s Greatest Judge – Part 8

SamuelGod is most beautifully praised when His people hear His Word, love His Word, and obey His Word.” Albert Mohler. Samuel, Israel’s greatest judge exemplified these qualities, and I believe God was drawn to Samuel because He knew, He found someone who was going to go all the way even to their own hurt. Better still, the Bible puts it this way, “God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases Him.” Philippians 2:13 (TPT). Watch this, the seed was already implanted in Samuel, but most importantly, it was Samuel’s to yield and do the bidding of the Lord; and that he did with excellence.

Listen to this, God also implanted that seed in you and me, therefore, it is incumbent on us to do His bidding. Remember, God has given us free will to choose, hence He said, “Listen closely, I have set before you today life and prosperity (good), and death and adversity (evil); in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk [that is, to live each and every day] in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments (precepts), so that you will live and multiply, and that the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you are entering to possess. “…I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding closely to Him; for He is your life [your good life, your abundant life, your fulfilment] and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord promised (swore) to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” Read Deuteronomy 30:15-20 (AMP).

Samuel was faced with two choices: life and death, and he chose the path of eternal life; he was smart to take God’s insight into the answer. Beloved, you and I are faced with two choices – life and death; which one will you choose? As an encouragement to one another, let us choose life – the life of peace with God.

Father God, thank You for giving me the answer to life – Your Word. I am amazed at Your loving kindness and exceeding abundant grace. Thank You, because I am filled with Your tender mercies.

We write. You read. Be encouraged.
