“As the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, so the denial of God is the height of foolishness.” R. C. Sproul. Any society or people who deny the existence of God is demonstrating the height of foolishness [ignorant and not knowing]. Listen to what the Bible says, Only the withering soul would say to himself, “There is no God.” Anyone who thinks like this is corrupt and callous, depraved and detestable, devoid of what is good.” Read Psalm 14:1 (TPT). Hey, I did not write this, I am re-echoing only what the Scripture says.
There are several reports documented and giving the reasons why Church attendance is low and why the Church seem not to be feared. The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence], And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.” Read Proverbs 9:10 (AMP). The fear of the Lord is honoring His Body – the Church and His Word.
Listen to this, “I believe the reason for the decline generally in Church attendance is the absence of the fear of God.” R.T. Kendal. And if I might add, we the people of God should respect the Church because the Bible says, “Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]. Read James 4:8 (AMP). Watch, the Church is not called to be popular, but to be righteous, holy and on fire. Scripture says, “So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless) and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust].” Read Revelation 3:16 (AMP). Brothers and sisters, God’s Word never changes, neither does His warnings, therefore, it will behoove us to take heed.
“God’s work done through the Church – the people of God, done God’s way never lacks God’s supply of wisdom and energy.” And for this reason, the Church is not beggarly; instead, the Church is a distribution center ready to distribute from the abundance of God’s riches to humanity. Hallelujah!
“I verily believe Christianity is necessary to the support of civil society. One of the beautiful boasts of our municipal jurisprudence is that Christianity is a part of the Common Law … There never has been a period in which the Common Law did not recognize Christianity as lying its foundations.” Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, Harvard Speech, 1829. If this was said in 1829, then it holds true today!
The Church will always be on the winning side, and there is no doubt in my mind, our victory is already assured. And we won’t gloat about it because the Bible says, “Do the riches of His extraordinary kindness make you take Him for granted and despise Him? Haven’t you experienced how kind and understanding He has been to you? Don’t mistake His tolerance for acceptance. Do you realize that all the wealth of His extravagant kindness is meant to melt your heart and lead you into repentance?” Read Romans 2:4 (TPT).
Even though it looks like the world is wagging its finger at the Church and are totally oblivious to the role the Church will eventually play, let me encourage you with this prayer, Elisha answered, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Read 2 Kings 6:16 (AMP).
We write. You read. Be encouraged.
Oh, praise the Lord for this insight.
Blessings to the entire Kolumns team.
