“Happiness is caused by things that happen around me, and circumstances will mar it, but joy flows right on through trouble; joy flows in the night as well as in the day; joy flows through persecution and opposition. It is an unceasing fountain bubbling up in the heart; a secret spring the world can’t see and doesn’t know anything about.” Dwight L. Moody.
Beloved, this year 20/20, we will have to engage in God’s strategy to successfully defeat the plans of the evil one. And one of that strategy is to employ joy. What then is joy? In the Greek, it means exceeding gladness which flows from within, hence, the Bible says, “Joyfully you’ll pull up buckets of water from the wells of salvation [from within your soul]. And as you do it, you’ll say, “Give thanks to God. Call out His name. Ask him anything! Shout to the nations, tell them what He’s done, spread the news of His great reputation!.” Read Isaiah 12:3-4 (MSG). Hey, “Let God arise and every one of our enemies be scattered.” Read Psalm 68:1. Let me ask this question, what happens when you begin to praise someone? I’ll tell you, they will be motivated to do something and in the native parlance, “dem go shake body, something must drop.”
We live in a world where we do not have control over the way people act towards one another. But what we do have is the ability to choose and determine our countenance and response, hence the Bible says, “Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace].” Read James 1:2-3 (AMP).
Joy is a spiritual force, and weapon of war, hence the Bible says the following:
- “Jehoshaphat appointed those who sang to the Lord and those who praised Him in their holy (priestly) attire, as they went out before the army and said, “Praise and give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever.” Read 2 Chronicles 20:21 (AMP).
- “When they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were struck down [in defeat].” Read 2 Chronicles 20:22 (AMP). And the Bible says, “My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.” Read Psalm 27:2b (AMP).
- “For the sons of Ammon and Moab [suspecting betrayal] rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, completely destroying them; and when they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.” Read 2 Chronicles 20:23 (AMP). Can you see this? Total victory by the hand of God, hence, “You need not fight in this battle; take your positions, stand and witness the salvation of the Lord who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.’ ” Read 2 Chronicles 20:17 (AMP).
My Father in heaven, thank You! “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” I know joy comes from Your spoken – Rhema Word. Thank You, I have ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to perceive what you are saying. Thank You, I am not only a hearer but a doer of Your word in Christ Name.
