God can use anyone He so desires to fulfil His purposes and plans. Recall the Scripture, “Now I know for certain that God doesn’t show favouritism with people but treats everyone on the same basis. It makes no difference what race of people one belongs to. If they show deep reverence for God and are committed to doing what’s right, they are acceptable before Him.” Read Acts 10:34-35 (TPT).
Amos a “Man of God.” Why was he referred to as a “Man of God.”? The Bible makes it clear, but the Lord called me away from my flock and told me, “Go and prophesy to my people Israel.” Read Amos 7:15 (NIV). Amos went and obeyed God’s Word to speak of the prophecy God showed him. So who was Amos? According to the Scriptures, he was a layperson, herder of sheep and one who tended sycamore-fig trees in the Judean countryside.
Amos did not come from a lineage of a prophetic family, neither was he the son of a priest. He was no one special, but someone who like you and me looking to support our families and worship the Lord. And in Amos 1:1 God gave a message to Amos, listen to this, “The Lord’s voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem! The lush pastures of the shepherds will dry up; the grass on Mount Carmel will wither and die.” Read Amos 1:1 (NLT).
Lord, Jesus, as we begin our study in the Book of Amos, let complacency be exposed in our lives and let transformation of our hearts begin in Christ Name.

Amos un «homme de Dieu». Pourquoi a-t-il été appelé un «homme de Dieu» ? La Bible le dit clairement, mais le Seigneur m’a appelé loin de mon troupeau et m’a dit, “alèze prophétisez à mon peuple Israel.” Lire Amos 7:15 (NIV). Amos est allé obéir à la Parole de Dieu pour parler de la prophétie que Dieu lui a montrée. Qui était Amos ? Selon les Écritures, il était un laïc, berger de moutons et celui qui s’occupait de sycomore-figuiers dans la campagne de Judée.
Amos ne venait pas d’une lignée d’une famille prophétique, lui non plus le fils d’un prêtre. Il n’était pas spécial, mais quelqu’un qui, comme vous et moi, cherchons à soutenir nos familles et à adorer le Seigneur. Et dans Amos 1:1 Dieu a donné un message à Amos, écoutez ceci, “La voix du Seigneur rugira de Sion et le tonnerre de Jérusalem! Les pâturages luxuriants des bergers s’assècheront; l’herbe sur le mont Carmel va se faner et mourir. Lire Amos 1:1 (NLT).
Seigneur, Jésus, alors que nous commençons notre étude dans le Livre d’Amos, que la complaisance soit exposée dans nos vies et que la transformation de nos cœurs commence en Nom du Christ.

Amos ein “Mann Gottes”. Warum wurde er als “Mann Gottes” bezeichnet? Die Bibel macht es deutlich, aber der Herr rief mich von meiner Herde weg und sagte zu mir: “Geh hin und weiß zu meinem VolkIsrael.” Lesen Amos 7:15 (NIV). Amos ging hin und gehorchte Gottes Wort, um von der Prophezeiung zu sprechen, die Gott ihm zeigte. Wer war also Amos? Nach der Schrift war er ein Laie, Schafhirten und einer, der in der jüdischen Landschaft Platanen-Feigenbäume pflegte.
Amos stammte nicht aus einer Abstammung einer prophetischen Familie, er war auch nicht der Sohn eines Priesters. Er war kein besonderer, sondern jemand, der wie Sie und ich unsere Familie unterstützen und den Herrn anbeten möchte. Und in Amos 1:1 gab Gott Amos eine Botschaft: “Die Stimme des Herrn wird aus Zion brüllen und aus Jerusalem donnern!! Die üppigen Weiden der Hirten werden austrocknen; das Gras auf dem Berg Karmel wird verden und sterben.” Lesen Amos 1:1 (NLT).
Herr, Jesus, wenn wir unser Studium im Buch Amos beginnen, lasst Selbstgefälligkeit in unserem Leben entblößt werden und lasst die Transformation unseres Herzens im Christusnamen beginnen.
