What I find quite stunning was the response of the people to Haggai’s prophecy. The Bible says this, “Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him. And the people showed reverence for the Lord.” Read Haggai 1:12 (NASB). Beloved, it is not just enough for you and me to go to church, how we listen to God’s word is equally very critical. Watch this, do we go to church and listen to how eloquent the preacher’s speech was or do we go to church and listen out for what God is exactly saying, then going out and do the word?
“Then Haggai, the messenger of the Lord, spoke by the commission of the Lord to the people saying, “ ’I am with you,’ declares the Lord.” So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.” Read Haggai 1:12-15 (NASB).
Look at this, the Lord promised “to be with them,” and He also “Stirred up the spirit of everyone to take part in the building of the house of the Lord. Recall the Scripture, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Read Zechariah 4:6 (NASB).
Please hear my heart on this, the statement “consider your ways” came up twice in chapter 1, and the repeat of this statement shows why we have to pay attention to what God is saying and has been said in the past. Progress or the lack thereof might or can be attributed to one’s ability to yield to the bidding of God where His will is concerned.
Father in heaven, I love You. I thank You for You are rich in mercy. O, how I love the Lord. Let Your grace bind our wondering heart to thee in Christ Name, Amen.

Bien-aimé, il ne suffit pas pour vous et moi d’aller à l’église, comment nous écoutons la parole de Dieu est tout aussi très critique. Regardez cela, allons-nous à l’église et écoutons-nous à quel point le discours du prédicateur a été éloquent ou allons-nous à l’église et écoutons-nous ce que Dieu dit exactement, puis sortir et faire le mot?
Alors Haggai, le messager du Seigneur, s’est adressé par la commission du Seigneur au peuple en disant: Je suis avec toi, déclare le Lord.” Ainsi, le Seigneur a agité l’esprit de Zerubbabel le fils de Shealtiel, gouverneur de Juda, et l’esprit de Josué le fils de Jehozadak, le grand prêtre, et l’esprit de tous les restes du peuple; et ils sont venus et ont travaillé sur la maison du Lord des armées, leur Dieu, levingt-quatrième jour du sixième mois de la deuxième année de Darius le roi. Regardez cela, le Seigneur a promis d’être avec eux, et il a également agité l’esprit de chacun de prendre part à la construction de la maison du Seigneur. Rappelez-vous l’Écriture, ‘est la parole de la Lord à Zerubbabel en disant: on pas par la puissance ni par le pouvoir, mais par Mon Esprit,’ dit le Lord des hôtes. Lire Zacharie 4:6 (NASB).
S’il vous plaît entendre mon cœur à ce sujet, la déclaration considérez vos voies est venu deux fois dans le chapitre 1, et la répétition de cette déclaration montre pourquoi nous devons prêter attention à ce que Dieu dit et a été dit dans le passé. Le progrès ou l’absence de celui-ci pourrait ou peut être attribué à sa capacité à céder à l’appel de Dieu en ce qui concerne sa volonté.
