When we speak of TRUE REPENTANCE, it is prudent to ask how does one know the difference between TRUE REPENTANCE and SHALLOW REPENTANCE? Matthew informs us we should be able to identify what TRUE REPENTANCE looks like. And before we delve into what TRUE REPENTANCE looks like, let us find out what SHALLOW REPENTANCE is? Shallow repentance is described in this text, “What I want from you is plain and clear: I want your constant love, not your animal sacrifices. I would rather have My people know Me than burn offerings to Me. “But as soon as they entered the land at Adam, they broke the covenant I had made with them.” Read Hosea 6:5b-7 (GNT). Can you see this? They were never serious with their commitment, and that is what shallow repentance looks like. As it relates to you and me, is our remorse superficial and does it lack true conviction? This is a question we must answer.
TRUE REPENTANCE has fruits, hence, the Bible says, “So produce fruit that is consistent with repentance [demonstrating new behaviour that proves a change of heart, and a conscious decision to turn away from sin]; and do not presume to say to yourselves [as a defense], ‘We have Abraham for our father [so our inheritance assures us of salvation]’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children (descendants) for Abraham. And already the axe [of God’s judgment] is swinging toward the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” Matthew 3:8-10 (NASB)
FRUITS OF REPENTANCE –
1. Demonstrating new behaviour that proves a change of heart, and a conscious decision to turn away from sin. Listen to this, “Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Read Romans 12:2 (NLT).

Quand nous parlons de VRAI REPENTIR, il est prudent de se demander comment peut-on savoir la différence entre LE VRAI REPENTIR ET LE REPENTIR SUPERFICIEL? Matthieu nous informe que nous devrions être en mesure d’identifier à quoi ressemble le VRAI REPENTIR. Et avant de nous plonger dans ce que LA VRAIE REPENTANCE ressemble, découvrons ce qu’est LE REPENTIR SUPERFICIEL? Le repentir superficiel est décrit dans ce texte: “Ce que je veux de vous est clair et clair: je veux votre amour constant, pas vos sacrifices d’animaux. Je préfère que mon peuple me connaisse plutôt que de brûler des offrandes à Moi. “Mais dès qu’ils sont entrés dans la terre à Adam, ils ont rompu l’alliance que j’avais faite avec eux.” Lire Osée 6:5b-7 (GNT). Tu vois ça? Ils n’ont jamais été sérieux avec leur engagement, et c’est à cela que ressemble le repentir superficiel. En ce qui concerne vous et moi, nos remords sont-ils superficiels et manquent-ils de véritable conviction? C’est une question à laquelle nous devons répondre.
VRAI REPENTANCE a des fruits, donc, la Bible dit: onc, produire des fruits qui est compatible avec la repentance [démontrant un nouveau comportement qui prouve un changement de cœur, et une décision consciente de se détourner du péché]; et ne prétendez pas vous dire [comme défense], “Ous avons Abraham pour notre père [donc notre héritage nous assure du salut]” car je vous dis que de ces pierres Dieu est capable d’élever des enfants (descendants) pour Abraham. Et déjà la hache [du jugement de Dieu] se balance vers la racine des arbres; par conséquent, chaque arbre qui ne porte pas de bons fruits est abattu et jeté dans le feu. Matthieu 3:8-10 (NASB)
PRIÈRE–
- Démontrer un nouveau comportement qui prouve un changement d’avis, et une décision consciente de se détourner du péché. Écoutez ceci, “Ne copiez pas le comportement et les coutumes de ce monde, mais laissez Dieu vous transformer en une nouvelle personne en changeant votre façon de penser.” Lire Romains 12:2 (NLT).
