True Repentance – 1e

According to the “Westminster Shorter Catechism” – Question 87: “What is REPENTANCE unto life? Answer: Repentance unto life is a saving grace,¹ whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sin,² and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ,³ doth, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God,⁴ with full purpose of, and endeavour after, new obedience.⁵

1. Acts 11:18. When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. 2. Acts 2:37-38. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 3. Joel 2:13. And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 4. Jeremiah 31:18-19. I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the Lord my God. Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. 5. 2 Corinthians 7:11. For behold this self same thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.  Psalm 119:59. I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

Beloved, this is a very serious thought for you and me to consider. At times, I find digging deeper into certain topics reveals one’s knowledge or the lack thereof. As I alluded to previously, TRUE REPENTANCE is not a popular subject taught is most of our churches, and I believe as the people of God, we need to get back to basics. Recall when you first acknowledged God’s hand upon your life? You were ecstatic and filled with so much awe of God.

LORD, help me get back to that place of deep intimacy with You; an experience never felt before in Christ Name. Amen.

Vrai repentir – Partie 1e

Réponse: Le repentir à la vie est une grâce salvatrice,¹ par laquelle un pécheur, par un vrai sens de son péché,² et l’appréhension de la miséricorde de Dieu dans le Christ,³ doth, avec le chagrin et la haine de son péché, se tourner de lui à Dieu,⁴avec plein but de, et s’efforcer après, nouvelle obéissance.⁵

1.Actes 11:18. Quand ils entendirent ces choses, ils tenaient leur paix, et glorifiaient Dieu, en disant, then hait Dieu aussi aux Gentils accordés le repentir à la vie.
2.  Actes 2:37-38. Maintenant, quand ils ont entendu cela, ils ont été piqués dans leur cœur, et dit à Pierre et au reste des apôtres, hommes et frères, que ferons-nous? Alors Pierre leur dit, repentez-vous et soyez baptisés chacun d’entre vous au nom de Jésus-Christ pour la rémission des péchés, et vous recevrez le don du Saint-Esprit.
3. Joel 2:13. Et ez votre cœur, et non vos vêtements, et tournez-vous vers le Seigneur votre Dieu: car il est gracieux et miséricordieux, lent à la colère, et de grande bonté, et repentez-le du mal.
4. Jérémie 31:18-19. J’ai sûrement entendu Ephraim se plaindre ainsi; Tu m’as châtié, et j’ai été châtié, comme un bœuf peu habitué au joug: tournez-moi, et je serai tourné; car tu es le Seigneur mon Dieu. Sûrement après que j’ai été tourné, je me suis repenti; et après cela, j’ai été instruit, j’ai frappé sur ma cuisse: j’avais honte, oui, même confondu, parce que je ne supporter le reproche de ma jeunesse.
5.  2 Corinthiens 7:11. Car voici cette même chose, que vous avez attristé après une sorte de dieu, quelle prudence il a forgé en vous, oui, quelle compensation de vous-mêmes, oui, quelle indignation, oui, quelle peur, oui, quel désir véhément, oui, quel zèle, oui, quelle vengeance! En toutes choses, vous avez approuvé vous-mêmes pour être clair dans cette affaire. 
Psaume 119:59. J’ai réfléchi sur mes voies et tourné mes pieds vers tes témoignages.

Bien-aimé, c’est une pensée très sérieuse pour vous et moi d’envisager. Parfois, je trouve creuser plus profondément dans certains sujets révèle ses connaissances ou l’absence de celui-ci. Comme je l’ai mentionné précédemment, VRAI REPENTANCE n’est pas un sujet populaire enseigné est la plupart de nos églises, et je crois que le peuple de Dieu, nous devons revenir à l’essentiel. Rappelez-vous quand vous avez reconnu la main de Dieu sur votre vie? Vous étiez extatique et rempli de tant de crainte de Dieu. 

Seigneur, aide-moi à retourner à ce lieu d’intimité profonde avec Toi; une expérience jamais ressentie auparavant dans le Nom du Christ. Amen.
